I’m making a great Saddle Back Locking Folder. That Blade is ACID ETCHED and the Case is INLAID WALNUT

The Case has been laid out with the Magic Pencil, and the Blade has been hand painted with Acid Resist.

Drying ....

And now the blade has been carefully and watchful etched in Acid. So many things have to be correct or you will ruin the blade. Correct acid. Correct strength. Correct temperature. Proper removal of the steel sludge which develops during etching. Removal of resist. Proper buffing of the etched blade steel.

The Walnut carefully carved out to receive the inlay materials.

It will be a Beautiful and Feather Light Folding Knife.

Thanks Bob!

I’m speculating on this one. An heirloom for some good boy or girl, and some lights and sandpaper for me.

Plz keep watching. It’s looking nice. Inlay is progressing. It’s my secret Stardust and Pearl Chips that I pioneered about 1980.

Best,
Gary

As always you never disappoint but .... that knife doesn't look very sharp. Ummm I'm just saying self-hammerLOL!

Thanks

1). Optical Illusion: you can shave with it as is.

2). Or ... you could be looking at the wrong end ....

3). Or ... let’s see ....

Since you have dispaired my pic ... I “can” see the shadow as a fat edge. (see point #1)

This is fine L6 Steel. An Air Hardening Tool Steel. I’ve applied my Super Dupper Heat Treat. It’s .035” Steel will slice like ... a Barnes ... and still cut chips from Cold Rolled Steel.

Didn’t have this side in a condition to show before. This still isn’t polished but you recall the medium I Hope.

The Saddle Spring will be Heat Treat Blue with Blue Machine Screws.

Working.

Thks Lon. Almost done.

I continually decide well .... “this would look nice together ... then three days scream by.” I swear time is moving much faster than it used to ...
