(I had to go earlier - didn't get to finish the post). I ran a bluing cycle for a number of parts I needed recently. During the session, I re-blued the Hoss while it was back in my shop after five years in the field. The maintenance included changing out all seals while it was torn down. This one actually has been shot alot. Everything was in good shape. It's good to go again.

Seriously, some serious work has gone into that little (or should I say big) beauty!
I am intrigued by the side by side configuration of the barrel and airtube...is there a precedent for this in olden days air guns, or is it a product of your fertile artistic imagination?
I bet it kicks a bit when it's fired, and I bet it hits hard, got any figures?

Complex barrel band is set up to draw all three tubes with one socket head machine screw (in that "post").

Puts barrel in better eye alignment when heavy pistol is rested on crooked opposite arm.
Annoys inside the box folks.
Looks way cool.
Just made the whole thing "tighter" and I liked it that way. Glad you like it.

Great to see the Hoss again. This has been kelli's fav for some time. It's a handful that she felt gave her a rock solid hold at The Erwin Cup. She can't wait to get her hands on it again.
Julio has taken good care of it, no doubt. I may have a thing or two that would work as a good backstop for that 454 ball. Thanks for a peek!

Quite the good-looking hogleg there. The more I see that acid-etching on the reservoir, the more I like it, it's classy looking. I'll bet the blueing on the top of the hammer is the first to go since it's thumbprinted every time it's fired, but I'll bet it was nice and smooth there as well.

Griffin, this gun is a blast to shoot! Kelli, my wife, and I shot our 20 station woods walk rotating between the Hoss 45, Victory 32 and Rendezvous 25. The targets are steel reactive on rebar hangers from 30 - 75 yards. Kelli only missed a few and I shot clean including the two longest shots with the Hoss. Gary developed an accurate hold for these pistols shown here.

Thanks Kent and Gary for the info. The hold looks pretty interesting. Seems like it would "lock" everything into place to give a pretty stable platform. My guess is that it's intended for longer pistols like the Vistory or the Hoss. I can just imagine someone trying it with a tiny little pocket pistol and having the action get caught in their shirtsleeve or something. Or getting burned by the muzzle blast of a powder burner.
Gary, what is the finish on the Victory in the picture? I've seen the pics of them in stainless (polished) but this doesn't seem to have the same sheen as those. I think I like it better than the high polished stainless. And Gary, did you say you're building for a collector? do you just figure it'll end up sitting unused anyway, so at least you know where this one is headed?

Yeah ... for rainy areas, I always make the guns so you can let them leaning against the post on the front porch. No need to actually bring them inside at all! 
A good plastic stock would be a good option too! hehe

The plastic stocked Remington Nylon 66 is now a collectable with only a little over a million made between 1959-89. The rarest is the bicentenial model with just over 10 thousand made. It now is valued at $1000 in mint condition. Checked on auction and sure enough an altered (less valuable) one went for $630!! The standard models were priced 49.99 new. One of the descriptions reads "These were plastic before plastic was cool!!!"

NOW ... if you ALSO have the BOX that it came in from 1950 ... WELL!!!!! THEN you are in tall cotton indeed! You can probably tack on another thousand dollars for the box. THAT's the state of real collecting today.
Hummm .... what of all those Barnes owners who told me they immediately burned the custom crate I sent their guns in. I suspect that, by now, those crates are worth far more than the guns themselves!!

I better start having Gary crate up my guns and ship them to me rather than deliver them via plane in a gun case! I still have all those plastic gun cases, do you think they are now worth a grand? 
On my Yukon, could you spell Barnes without the "e"? I think that kind of "mistake" would make it really rare, like a mis-stamped penny, it could be worth zillions!

I will dive into the ledger projects of which most are from 75%-90% complete. That will still take a lot of time and effort. In that mix, I will be finishing a Hoss pistol for one of my lady collectors. We've referred to it as the "Hossette" for some time now.
