Hi Neil,

Yeah ... I thought you had one too.

We'll see what the slugs and pellets "drop" at. More than likely, that will be in the range that you can use.

Good man ... I'm gonna put you down for a thousand dollars worth! Thanks for raising your hand ... thumbs up grinning smiley

Hi Lon,

Sure would. The long version (Durango) would be even hotter.

Humm, somewhere around here I have a box of .308 lead bullets. They may actually be sized at .309, but I would have to check, but then I would have to find them. If I remember correctly, they should be about 105gr. I think they are for reloading .30 Carbine. Do you thing they would work?

Hi Keith,

They might. It would also be easy to size a thousandth, from an existing slug.

Will be interesting to see what's around that flies.

Biggest issue, will be the design of the chamber of particular guns. Depends upon the action ... bolt, slide, etc. But, there must be free space for the slug. A long rifle slug, and a pellet, or ball, will all require something different. You can't make a "one size fits all". You can make a bore riding slug, which then has the engagement area similar to a shorter bore size slug's area. The power range of the gun will determine what makes sense to chamber for. No point in planning to chamber a 200 grain, if the gun isn't powerful enough. The reverse is a gun with the power to shoot the 200 grainer, but where you want to try things like the pellets. There's where you may need an altered bolt of pellet seater.

The tooling for these, has proven to work well. I'll get you some for testing. I know you will get the most out of them, that is in there. thumbs up

BTW ... regular readers will read most posts. I'll just tag on here. Wed., I go in for more epidural injections. My feet have legs have gone increasingly numb, over the past week. I was able to get in on a hurry up basis, since I'd had a thorough consultation and blood work just a few weeks ago. I'm grateful.

I'm glad that you were able to expedite the latest set of injections, I hope that they work well. There's nothing "character building" about gritting your way through chronic pain, it's hard on the body in and of itself. Left un/undertreated, it's just another stressor that your system has to deal with. In some respects, our medical system has developed an unfortunately Puritanical response to pain control, one that's stubbornly resisted purging despite abundant data to the contrary..

It's become apparent that pain specialist docs are sometimes subjected to extraordinary levels of attention from the feds due to their frequent prescribing from the more powerful end of the analgesic drug spectrum. It can't help but affect their decision making process, especially when it comes to patients with hard to define conditions. Although there is little doubt that a few individuals are there solely to acquire narcotics, the vast majority of their patients are honestly suffering and need relief. As proven in numerous studies, this can result in chronic pain patients being undertreated as a result. Personally, I'd far prefer to see a few drug seekers accomodated with scripts that they don't really need rather than an over-cautious doc leaving even a single legitimate patient undertreated for chronic pain. It's just not justified.rant

Hi Neil,

I didn't see that as a rant. I appreciate it.

Honestly ... you "may" realize ... but most would not have a reason to realize ... the "stigma" which comes with taking pain medications ... especially narcotics. The pop culture responce is that you could just "work it off", if you weren't too lazy to get on a pr. of running shoes or go to the gym. The fact that the mechanical structure of your spinal col. is compromised, and the nerves are damaged, is just an excuse.

Then, by the time everybody hears twelve commercials a day ... poking ridicule at people who "pop pills for pain" rather than buying their new book on eating bark and seaweed ... you get labeled as next thing to a junkie (or just another junkie). There's the popular line ... "he just got off of all those PILLS ... and he started to FEEL better ... DUH!!!" And everybody nods in agreement ...

If you have high blood pressure, then you must eat pork rinds by the bag full. If you have diabetes, then you are clearly a fat slob. If you take pain pills, you're a junkie. If the whole thing gets you down, then you have mental illness. The only "worthy" citizens are those few who look like a stick, and live in warm up suits. It's quite a culture.

Well, anyway ... more 5" needles tomorrow. Toes and balls of feet have been numb. Thighs burning ... feel kicked in the butt. Lovely feeling ... stumble over steps ... feel like there's a pencil under my toes all the time. And, I taught myself all these skills, and bought the tools ... and wouldn't have hesitated, just a few years ago, to replace the roof on this old pile of "charm". As it is .... big contractors won't even place a bid on the roof work ... and tell me how impossible it is ... when I've done it, know it, have the tools, and just can't get up there (cause I'm a pork rind munchin' junkie). laughing

Thanks Sean. There are a lot of us out here.

Hey Gary,

I used to work with a paramedic whose wife had MS, the kind where all your nerves are basically becoming more and more exposed and firing for no good reason at all....pain nerves included. She's the reason why he ended up getting into medicine in the first place. She had reached the point where even with a morphine pump she needed a base load of systemic opiates to moderate the pain, not a good place to be at all. Eventually even modern medicine reaches it's limits. I sincerely hope that you never reach that limit. It would be nice if nobody had to reach that limit, but as you pointed out, there are some unrealistic expectations to be overcome first.
