Hoss is that you in the grass?

Hoss is that you in the grass?

I thought a friend of mine might be missing his Barnes so in my endless compassion I took some pics. The hard part is choosing which angle to show on this beautiful piece.

I put a couple dozen balls thru it today. I'll get some action shots for everyone soon.

Thanks Julio,

I cocked the piece on purpose to give a different view. I failed to notice I'd left the breech open while taking the pics. This is sitting on a 20 degree slope to catch the last light of the day. I used a white cooler to help reflect sunlight to the shadow side. I've found this doesn't washout the pic like a fill flash would. While taking all the time to set up the shot, I failed to notice the breech while peering thru the view finder.

I'll bet you noticed the veneer that I've been using as accents on the kayaks. I've set these and a few other pics of the Hoss as a slideshow with Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf as the background tune. Is that wrong?

Kent,

You are wasting your talents as a Specialist. The Movies is where you belong. thumbs up

I was going to say this am, "Looks like you have a good start on the materials to make a Rolls Royce (with the Burl veneer)" ... but didn't want to take away from your thread.

The cooler is genius. I've got to get one. Amazon? Do I need a "high density" version? wink

Back to the mill. Gonna run the bluing shop in the next week. Another set of epidural injections Thursday. Better wait to make sure my legs don't toss me in the boiling vat of salt. Help!

Thanks for the pics. I know I'm speaking for "everyone" when I say what they have in their heart ... but haven't the minute to type. whistling more innocent

Kent, it is real pretty but I can't help but think a different coloured background would emphasise the woodwork even more as it almost gets lost against the similar colour....
But then, maybe I'm just jealousMore sad A truly compassionate man might wish to share this work globally. I'll send you my addy.
Cheers

Neil, I'll have to try some of the different veneers I have to see what you like best. This will also give all the "Woodies" a chance to guess what species they are...JoeBill!Green bowing It may be awhile before I see any sunshine so give me a little time.hourglass

Gary, the cooler is a styrofoam cheapy that you can pick up at the local stop and go. Now the sunset is the tough one, you can only find that on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.sunny

I don't know if even your fancy new camera could catch the full beauty of an Atlantic sunset, but if you do here's something to compare it to.

Another field trip for the class of 2016, '18 and 20 "Saucier Academy of Academic Excellence" scholarat least that's how the grant reads. Just kidding, not a single tax dollar at work here. We Need You! We'd have to shut down the rifle range!

A rare pic of a couple of Mermaids and Neptune! Really nice lighting too.

Great field trip, once again.

USA! USA!

Yeah ... I can't wait when getting my injections is JUST LIKE sitting at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles for hours. That's until it's decided that I'm not WORTH the money.

Yup, nothing like the thought of medicine run by an army of soulless beaurocrats and government penny-pinchers to cheer the cockles of your heart. Help!

BTW, I've got my bet placed on BURL ELM. Sure is pretty wood, but it's a shame not to feature a closeup of the acid etching on the pressure reservoir on that piece, it's beautiful. You're a lucky guy, getting to play with such a cool toy.

All the photographic pointers are appreciated and will be incorporated into the next photo shoot.

As some of you may be aware this gun was featured in Forbes magazine in May of 2004. I've located a copy and we'll all compare my efforts with the pro's.

More pics shortly,

A fine looking set of youngsters you've got there too!

What a luxury, having an ocean that's so warm it's not an immediate threat to live and health.injured

Sorry Rotor, I forgot you have to swim in a drysuit up there and ice sculptures instead of sand castles. Even down here this time of year it's not unusual to have someone get in trouble in the gulf because of hypothermia. It just takes a hour or two here not a minute or two.

Thank for the kiddie compliments, they even play well together. My wife gets most of the credit on both counts.
