This was the first of the Yukon Orion guns. It's a 58 ... for a customer.











I've been working on the carving ..... since I was a little airgunsmith! Man ... that's a bunch of detail. The stuff "in the round" is extremely awkward to get to. You have this loooong forestock, that's always in the way - up, down, sideways. You just have to find a way to get to the carving. If you have to reach thru the thumbhole and carve it upside down and backwards ... so be it. That rib down the middle of the thumbhole area is extremely difficult to reach.

This gun will be assembled in a couple of days. All the parts are made. I must finish the stock now. More sanding and oiling.

I know some of you are anxious to see the concept behind this full power Yukon, with the lighter carry weight.

Hi Gary,

You did an excellent job on the carving. The oiled stock shows a beautiful pattern of shades. This looks like a fine dress for the rest of the gun to wear.

Now that Gary, is outrageous, beyond imagination, those dream,s must be working overtime, where can i find one of those magic sharpie,s???? Your customer will be more than happy, and if he is not, then please send it my way.

That's what it does.

It's the result of tens of thousands of strokes of pencil, pen, chisel, rotary burr .... and, all of the sudden, it flowers.

Had the chance to see what the elves where up to with this Orion class Yukon. It's taking shape nicely with some more details not yet shown.

My family and I have come to know Gary and Kelly over the past half dozen years and as we were planning a trip to the DC area we made sure to visit. Gary and Kelly were gracious and generous hosts, and all had a good time. Kelly even ventured into the hurricane to bring some test slugs and Klondike bars to the range, what a trooper! I look forward to seeing this project develop on the forum.

We just finished 530 miles to Kentucky today, home is roughly the same distance away on Friday. I'll get some pics posted of the visit from there this weekend.
