The unfinished engraved frame, and Stag handle scales dry fit.

This is a different style then you have seen in a while. This is "engraved". "Chased" is another word. A chistle is shaped to a perfect geometry in order to peal out a ribbon of metal, and leave a groove with nearly polished side walls. The chistle is either pushed by hand, driven by a small chasing hammer, or driven by a pneumatic pulsing hammer. Being "Barnes Pneumatic", guess you know my main method.

Now, after the lines are cut, it can be polished and left as you see the side without stag. For this knife, I've chosen to create contrast by texturing the background, and slightly removing a bit of background depth. The pcs. Which you have mostly seen me do, are "Deep Relief Carved". Collect them ALL!!! boing

Hi Matt,

I do it by TRYING to make straight lines. I'm really "Checkering", and it comes out a mess like this.
