It looked like this

I bought this BSA Lonestar in .25 cal mid-January because it was too good a deal to pass up...brand new but it had been sitting on the shelf for quite a while so the price was good.

It took me a while to get it set up but last evening I put it through its paces at 100 yards in light winds. I was pretty happy with the result.
I think this gun will be taking care of a few local pests at distance.....grinning smiley
Cheers

Nice job Neil!

Looks like you've got that one dialed in too.

Thanks for posting!

Is that the rest you used to shoot?

Might not be so sensitive with small bore. I have a rest of that type. I find a longer "wheelbase" is needed for long range big guns. Forward mounted bipods work for me.

Just curious.

Great shooting Neil! Looks like you have another winner that the hawks will enjoy for a long time.

Hi Gary, no I didn't use that rest, it only gets used for maintenance purposes (or photoshoots!). Below is my usual bench rest set up, though for the 125 yard hare I used a bipod....

Does the pool come with the bags? You have a catalog number? More coffee

Good job. Looks like a rough life shooting there. I mean, you have to get out of the pool and all ... laughing

That's funny Sean. Haha. It does look like he would surely feel "watched". Haha.

Hmm...reminds me of a certain...ahem...less than complimentary...airgun-related scene in the movie "Trainspotting". shooter with bench rifle

Hi Neil, That is a tight 5 shot group for 100 yards you must have a very steady hand. A gun dealer down this way has a .25 lonestar in wood that I have been eyeing up, what fpe do they produce ? Danny.

Danny, I think that's about an average group for Neil. He's just been modest so far. winking smiley

Hi Danny
44 fpe with the JSB Exact Kings.
Sorry I can't profess to having a steady hand, that group was off the bench!

Jerry, if only!!grinning smiley
I have come to the conclusion that the biggest single factor affecting my smallbore groups is the wind. My home range is a both a blessing and a curse. It is great to be able to walk out onto the deck and shoot 100 yards +, but the valley winds are almost exclusively ever-present, and even the most gentle zephyr plays havoc with accuracy and precision.
Not quite so much of a problem for the big bores, thank goodness!
Cheers
