We put up that new 75 Yard Backer last week (ish).

It’s double layer of OSB Plywood on 4 by 4 posts in concrete.

Behind it now, is 3/16” sheet steel folded as a splash plate.

I have a 1/4” by 8 foot version but have to use the tractor for that one. I’m using the lower part of the backer.

I find that even the lighter 50 caliber slugs just zip thru the thick wood, slam into the splash plate and ride it down to bury in the ground.

I’ve been testing the flight characteristics of various slugs. You can see they are striking straight and punching cleanly.

Can see how the slugs slam hard into the splash plate and I can check the Rifling cuts on recovered slugs.

The scattered holes with North to South line thru, are sighting new scope and mounts and barrel alignment after the last assembly. I am very pleased with the Trigger Alteration. I turned it into a nice target Two Stage. The Slide Breech is really nice. Works great at the bench. Offered lots of options. I also installed a taller Cocking Stud Spool. It makes the Magnum power unit cock easier. I like it.

I tested Three different slugs after a basic sight in. I found two of the slugs printed actual doubles in 3 shots, and one printed a nice tight group with a double and a close third. These were quick groups and I wanted to get back to the shop. I have to pace it. Hate to be a delicate flower, but I can easily hurt the neck. Plates/Screws/Bone Spurs.

K, back to work. Hope you enjoyed seeing another post. I enjoy your company. Don’t miss the Rifle/Knife/Case For Sale.

Pulling away from the backer with the camera really makes a whole different point at 75 yards. I got a completely different perspective on how tight that group is.

Nice.

BTW, don't you feel like that new backer will risk hitting an endangered Striped Tube Worm if it were to get in front of the steel plate?

Thks Lon,

Those are overlaid groups with two different slugs. Just getting an idea of what will fly.

I’ll try hard next time. I have several more slug types too.

Oh ... I’ll always check the backer is clear behind it before shooting. I did today.

Thanks for commenting Lon
