False muzzle loading kit

For the 56 Bison. All complete, bullets cast, loading kit complete. Not as easy working while Gary is pushing machines around the shop and packing everything I lay down. why me. Haha.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The kit is keyed to fit over the muzzle a couple of inches. Short starter is pulled out of the kit - remains on the leather thong. Bullet goes in the false muzzle end. It's rammed, with the short starter thru the starter tube, and the bullet thus enters the bore a couple of inches. Then the starter tube is removed, and the short starter rams the bullet another couple of inches down the bore. By then, the fight is mostly taken out of the slug, as the rifling has engraved the slug and is keyed in. Finally, the ramrod is used to run it all the way down to the breech, and seat it.

The starter kit assures that the slug is started straight and is not damaged by mishandling. Fair amount of work to make well - it's key to accuracy.

Gary,

It looks hammer forged; nice touch.

Looks like you really had to hammer on that one to make it cooperate. winking smiley

Nice antique-y look to the piece, should go nicely with the appearance of the bison.
