Sheaths. They determine much of your experience with a knife. And a maker can spend a lot of time on a proper sheath. Experience suggests it’s difficult to have them properly appreciated for the labor involved. Some folks really love them. Some folks feel like they just “come with” a straight knife. Which is one of the reasons I make 95% Folding Knives. But, certain knives, for certain needs and Clients, demand a solid Fixed Blade and a matching sheath. That’s what we have here.

This one had much thought and serious labor invested. As you look through the pics, note the molded throat of the sheath. It’s tapered to allow entry. It’s molded around the knife and the Kydex was chosen for thickness, toughness, and the rivets positioned so the top portion of the blade compartment flexes, then snaps closed on the dagger. It’s self securing.

The rivets were made to be lifetime secure and corrosion proof. The belt loop is molded to accept an 1 3/4” belt, and not collapse, fatigue, or pinch.

There is a “Drain Tube” molded into the bottom of the sheath, on the inside. And (point of interest for me - I needed a tapered smooth long cone .... like My Grandfather’s Nail Set. Thanks for your help, Granddad). There must be a proper way to clean water, sand, and mud from the sheath. And be able to blow it out with compressed air or WD-40.

This is a proper sheath for a Military Dagger. I trust it will be suitable.

That's a great sheath Gary! It should be standard issue for all special forces. It looks indestructible. The paracord lashable rivets should allow multiple points of wear, boot, vest belt thigh. I'll see about getting one out to the frogmen at Stennis for testing. USA! USA!

Thanks Kent,

I’m just a couple of hours from finished. It looks, carried, sheaths ... better than hoped. I really like it.

Pics in a few minutes. Posting Thread .... “120 to Splashdown”
