I spent yesterday carving again

The “on deck” group are looking on. You’d have to be an Artist to understand, and God help you if you were. Hah. It’s a Bles-urse if the worst kind. You know it messes with you, but you wouldn’t turn it off because it’s so neat to watch.

Ok. The Carving is Complete. I’ll nowburnish it.

Note the technique was designed to represent the feel of an Ancient Stone Carving. It has a pulsed, segmented look representing endless individual hammer strikes. I’m going to burnish the top plane to contrast with the crystalline look down in the grooves.





Recently, I recalled the mix of steel in my earliest Damascus as well as the actual Acid composition and technique. After that, I just wasn’t satisfied with the blade finish



And so I was compelled to re-etch the blade.

It’s etched, and I’m finishing the process. It will be added to the cases shortly and finish this interesting piece.
