With that chain on it (like a bank pen), I’m gonna day it’s a public service pistol for bank robbers! bad dude

Your pretty good .
It DOES have to do with money/ coins from the 40’s
Here’s a down the ..... barrel view .
Not sure yet but I think it was decommissioned by someone and then returned to working order

Thanks
Kurt

My first thought (but I wanted others to guess), was a Carnival Gun. That folded link chain looks like the way they secured BB guns and 22’s. But I’ve never seen a coin shooter.

Well you both correct
It’s a coin/ nickel shooter .
In the late 30’s -40’s
Paul Macglashan invented a BB machine gun to train our service men to site shoot !” BB’s for victory “ bb’s we’re cheap compared to training with real ammo .he had a whole shooting gallery set up for training. They were for the gunners that shot out of the back bottom of an airplane. They were remote control!
He sold the Air machine guns to Army & Navy . He then later on made a few different styles of carnival airguns to keep a steady income .

This pistol was a nickel shooter that would shoot a toy off a shelf and the shooter wins the prize . The carny gets the nickels !! These are very heavy as were all his air guns and well made to put up with abuse . You just don’t see them around any more

Thanks
Kurt

Now that's kinda cool!
Do they fire with a spring mechanism, or is it air powered?

Hi Scott,

Looks to me like a Springer. Looks like pulling the top back cocks it and allows loading.

I’m just shouldering in here cause I know Kurt has had a full plate recently.

He’ll be around though. He has some neat stuff.

Good to see ya Scott

Hello Scott
Well most springers ARE airguns and push a diaphragm generating air. This pistol would probably be classified as a catapult gun . The spring is cocked and the coin is seated and it Propels it forward at about 3000 FPS !! self-hammer ok maybe 2000 FPS. Haha

Thanks for filling in for me Gary .
I’ve not mentioned to all but I’ve lived on a river in Michigan for 30 years . My wife and I were victims of the recent flooding after 8” of rain fell and 3 dams up stream from us FAILED! We we evacuated at 8pm in evening when the police and fire departments came Down our road . We had 3-5 ft if water in our house . 3ft in house 5ft in garage It’s a tuff thing to deal with having paid it off and kids in college. Now we’re back renting and trying to salvage whatever we’re can .

Many people had it worse than we did and ended up without a building even left standing. I’m feeling lucky compared to others! I’ll post a pic later

The drone pic is the back side view of my home circled in yellow!
BTW the dams And flooding up stream is at least 50 miles NORTH from my house also . At least 6 bridges were closed for repair/ inspection. So once the water went down it was a good 1-1/2-2 hour ride to circumnavigate the closed bridges . 500 year flood huh who knew ? Maybe global warming ya think??what was that

Thanks
Kurt

It’s definitely got the looks of a carnival style “gun”, I can almost smell the cotton candy from here!

Sorry to hear about your house, flooding is one of those disasters that unfolds in slow motion, after the fact
