Happy birthday Gary! Hoping it was a wonderful day!by pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Gary, Nice to see you back at making things. A western motif, I can see that becoming a seller as there are so many that like the western apparel and lifestyle. Even see it around here, some country folks dress the part and even wear the cowboy hats. Wish you all the best as you find different things to make using the punches. Sorry to hear the news. Prayers for you and family! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Interesting story behind the knives. 44 years, that is a testament to the quality of the knife. Man, coming home to a fire is terrible. Survived a house fire in May, 1989 so I have a taste of what it’s like. Good thing your tools weren’t ruined. Hoping you are able to continue with your work. Hello Gary, As a few others stated, that looks like a lot of work! Looks amazing once all the pieces are fit together in the patterns. Will be another great piece of work by your hands. Peterby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hope you are able to complete the folders shortly. I am sure someone will snap them up! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Gary, Thanks for sharing some of the items you are working on. I am sure it must be tough to get at things. I remember well the shape you were in last May when I visited. Really wish there was improvement as we would all like to see you being able to knock out stuff. Hope your week was productive! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Very neat! Looks great. I am sure it isn't easy getting just the right imprint! Now you just need more elves to help make some quantity! All the best, Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
If you read the Great Canadian Caper below, you will see how long I waited delivery on this item. Serial number #1! Thanks Gary and Kurt for allow my to have it! I visited Gary and Kelly this past May. It was a pleasure meeting them and seeing Gary work. The amount of work it is to make these cases doesn't show in the completed product. A very unique piece! I hadn't decided what to do withby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
My apologies, I forgot to comment that the case finally arrived. No idea why it took one month at Canadian Customs, very odd! I will post pictures on a new thread post. Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
All good, no idea why they would hold the piece. You didn’t put any special “products” in the case along with the shipment? No flour, chalk dust? Suspicious substances? Good to know that customs “knows” where it is. Likely be released soon I hope. Been wanting to show off the case once received. Thanks for keeping me posted, appreciate it! I am sure it is a lot of work to make just one tag. If you were going to make many more, almost time for a punch! Nice to see you are still making it into the shop. I know it isn’t easy for or on you to make the trek to the shop daily. Hope you are able for a long time! Blessings, Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice work, cannot be easy hand engraving the tags!by pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Agreed, it is a caper! No idea why it is taking this long to reach me. I have a feeling it was misplaced by Canada Post who takes over for USPS once in our country. Government labs, hmmm. Canada? Don't think you have much to worry about them. Hopefully things get cleared up soon! Otherwise file an insurance claim and then it might magically appear? Appreciate Kelly keeping tabs on it!by pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Beautiful details Gary! The polish really adds to it! I think you have found a nice series with these. Keep plugging away as best you can! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Will be some nice knives Gary once’s completed! Both have their own unique appeal. The phenolic looks more “tactical” while the pearl has more of an “artistic” motif. Looking forward to seeing them completed. Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello, Sorry I was away a few days and had seen the above posting but slipped my mind to reply. I too am hoping that the customs releases it soon. Not sure there is anything I can do as USPS cannot be tracked in Canada as far as I am aware. Wish something could be done and if things don’t move soon you may have to contact them to collect the insured value, maybe that will prompt them to gby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice picture of you both. It's a shame that your customers do not post the items they purchased or share in their use. Would be encouraging for you knowing that they are in good use and being enjoyed. Sorry to hear that your have further complications. None of us are promised health all our lives and so sad to see your current state, golden years that could be so beneficial. Hopefully soby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Cases look great Gary! Still waiting to receive mine, I hear Canadian border customs are swamped and likely why it was still sitting at customs. Hopefully its in the mail once I am home. Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Wow! Looking forward to receiving the case! Looks amazing Gary! Thanks Kurt for allowing me to have #1. Pedro aka Peterby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I can identify with headaches. Not sure what made this season so different. Pinched a nerve in my back yesterday and suffered a sore neck all day, could hardly turn head to the right. I did see a chiropractor today and that really helped. He took the tightened muscles and able to get them to relax. Still no idea why the migraines returned but hope to find out! Wish you some good days so yoby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Case is looking great! No doubt many hours invested to get to this stage. Looking forward to receiving it! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The image transfer is impressive. Takes a lot of tonnage to move that much metal. Did you use the 50 ton jack? Will be nice to see the cases complete. The integral hinges and the snap lock. I hope you find a use for the punches you made long ago. So many unique punches you have made, was rather in awe when I saw them in person. Thanks for posting the progress. Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice progress! The cases are looking great. Did you finish the cane you were working on back in May? Nice pic of you both! Hope you have a great week. Had a long weekend here, back to work tomorrow.by pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I remember seeing the details cut into the small oak leaf dies you working working on back in May during my visit. This one is much more impressive due to its size! Most people would never understand that this is all hand engraved and not cut on a CNC mill from a digital model. I am sure you had to work out the registering of the imprint. With so much detail it must take a lot of pressure toby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I think I can sympathize with you in what you wrote. Life isn’t easy and on the downs there are few that help you back up. Some have great intentions but never really help. They don’t really want to know all the details of your life and I get that, most are busy dealing with their own issues, problems etc. The world has changed as well these last few years. As you mentioned previously, ifby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Gary, The cases look fantastic! I did look again at the one pic as it seemed it was missing hinges just to realize as you stated; the metal is the same colour as the wood the cases are laying on. Looking forward to getting my case. It will be impressive and a nice piece to show off and relate the story of it’s construction. Hoping your health is manageable and you can focus! Bby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Gary, I echo Keith’s posting, a great design and be nice to see stamped into the cover of the nickel steel. I know you are struggling and hope you can find things that work to relieve the pain so that you can continue on making product. Looking forward again to see the first stamping! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Wow Gary! That is definitely something to reflect on! The shine and mirror is brilliant. Looking forward to seeing more cases! Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Gary, Nice to see you making progress. No doubt the results are an accumulation of decades of practice refining the process. Looks like this case is coming along well. All the best as you move towards the hinges and then finalizing the build. Hope your health allows for a continued pace of productivity. All the best, Pedroby pedrog - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
