Geeeezzz Gary, you sound a little.... cynical.... Just guessing the tests werent designed to make the tank fail, just the valve and neck. It seemed that one rig had a SCBA pak that firemen use, and got to thinking (always bad....) about what happenes to a fire fighter if they fall, and the valve/neck is compromised? Now youve got a fireman strapped to a jet-pak.... Tank failure? there was aby dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yikes! Mythbusters did their "experiment in a big warehouse, these guys are outside in a big parking lot..... your dive shop is usually a lot smaller than that... cant imagine the destruction of an event like this indoors... makes me think I'll stick to springers and MSP guns.....by dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Mythbusters also did a segment where they purposely sheared the valve/neck from the tank. it penetrated the cinderblock wallm and then some IIRC. That seems to me a more likely scenerio than the tank itself failing. And much more exciting event to be around, Id' thinkby dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

I see that now.... drilled while the raw stock was still square.... I'd have cut the clamp out then drilled it, geatly complicating getting the thru hole "square". Still learning! tahnx Gary!by dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
having been gone a couple of days (had to get the wife outta Dodge for while, she's teetering on burnout.....or maybe I was...).... reading this again, and gawking at the process... one question: why didnt ya drill a "thru hole" first, then tap and ream the halves (using the thru hole as a reference). Or maybe that just my lack of machining experience? Or "many ways" to the same thing?by dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Gary I'd have never seen the spot where it broke thru, if yo hadnt mentioned it..... but now that you did, I see it, but I still had to look.... Did you polish the hex heads or is that a stainless screw? Either way, that kinda detail is awesome.by dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Will a cross slide vice work? Then its off to get more drills and, I suppose a reamer set....just not from harbor freight...... So these D drill bits are specifically sized for this type of work? So much to learn, and that explains a lot...... Thanx Gary!by dan_house - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Machinists blue, and a sharp scribe? Who's he fooling? More proof that he's got a basement full of CNC stuff...... And did I see that right? the sanding wheel is wood?
