The corner of the building is restored. Even corrected the rotted mess I found when I opened it up. 1894 junk just doesn't last ... hahah The lathe is installed. Wired in (thanks Kent for the good thought ... I found the wiring SNAFU). It's cleaned of cosmaline and wax paper wrap. It's been lubricated. The two oil sumps have been filled with oil. Hi Cedric, Yeah ... this isn't a Union Shop. And we don't do government contracts. That was my father's chain fall. No ... I don't mean it's sacred or anything. Just yet another old rusty tool that got the job done. It probably came from some previous old guy's shop. Yep ... Government contracts ... that's where the new cool tools are. Based upon your criteria, I'd suggest my Aluminum tape and foil Ghost sights. Parallax free - quick target acquisition. Wouldn't break the bank unless you wanted me to SIGN THEM .... A heavy duty carriage was prepared to build the cabinet stands and chip tray on. Welded and installed a hoist mount point to the overhead. Used a chain hoist to lift the lathe .... To the point where I could get a borrowed lift table under it. I lifted with the table and hoist both. The lathe was over the capacity for each by a bit. After the lift, I counted on the hoist tby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Hi Ced. The things I've seen like you are thinking of, were shot with 10,000 fps or more. I don't think we have the muscle. ;?) Gary Jim could perhaps do it with the strobe set up he was talking about before.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Chris, Copy from earlier in the thread: Its a carbon fiber 4500psi tank with 68cu inches. I'm unsure if you mean a 68 cubic FEET tank ... or if you are really talking about a tiny 68 cubic INCH tank. I have had a few smaller carbon fiber tanks. They all just had a normal DIN valve on them. No regulator built in ... just a normal valve. So; unless you have something specifically maby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Alex, Yeah ... I've used the old lathe a few times for projects. It's in storage now. Could have a use later. I just keep it cause it doesn't eat much. haha. Good solid tools last forever. I got my new machine lathe today. I'm pleased with it. I have several guns that will be better to make on this machine. That's good. I agree. That's the stuff we discussed before and everybody seemed to think was like talking about cutting Social Security. All I wanted to survey was ... "Can you see the two left hand grooves with the raised rib between .... and can you see that it matches the timing rod with the slug laid atop?" That's the artifact. That was my purpose in posting the thing. Lon and Cedricby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Cedric, Great videos bud. Really fine editing. I really like your movie skills, and you sure have that rifle dialed in. Wow. Well, I have a crate from China in the driveway. It's raining nicely. We've had a bunch of trouble with the server hosting this forum over the past few days. I've commented on it multiple times on this thread. Asked for confirmations of what you have seen. As you'll note ... not one comment responded. The host said they were having maintenance issues. It's been coming and going. But ... it's not "this again". I know ya think I don't get the whole helix thing. I do. The centrifical force thing. The throwing a rock out of a tire at fast speed that stays in at slow speed. Hi Chris, I understand. Sorry ... you just have the wrong thing. It evidently has a regulator built into the valve. You can get another valve. That's what I was explaining. You do not need a regulator ... you just need a normal DIN valve for your tank. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Sean, That's right. It was just an odd find. A slug that had skipped off a stone, but left the track of intersecting that stone. It struck me that it recorded it's rate of twist relative to it's forward movement. I've been surprised this post has gotten such little serious comment. I figured people either found it of no interest, or just didn't believe me. Take a look at the slug laby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Chris, Don't know what you are asking. We're not on the same page. Any tank needs a valve in it. The normal high pressure valve IS the DIN valve for these tanks. They DO output without a regulator. You must have looked at a bench regulator set up. You don't need that. Any tank comes WITH a valve and gauge ... and usually with a microbore whip and fill quick coupler. Hope that helby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Hi Cedric, Looks great. What a beautiful area. Sorry - I can't get the videos. When you first posted ... I was into something. I just got back, and saw that I couldn't make them play. Bummer that nobody else would tell you. I get no control bar. Sounds like you really have your guns dialed in. Good job. Being able to get out to a place like that is amazing. My small Carbon Fiber tanks have DIN valves. Yes - they are SCUBA gear. Look up "Air Hog" in Texas. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Chris, That tank should be fitted with a DIN valve. That's typical of tanks like that. It shows a female cavity with internal threads. It should have a gauge on it too, with a hand wheel. You need a male DIN insert, with a microbore line, and then whatever sort of quick fill adapter that your gun uses. You don't need a regulator. You clip onto your gun, slowly open the hand wheel.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Here's what I saw: We have a snapshot of a microsecond in time. The slug was obviously moving forward, and rotating. After it punched the target backer, the slug flew on to probably 75-80 yards where the hill starts to rise. As it made contact with the ground; it landed on a stone and plowed over it's surface before it skipped off to rest where I later picked it up.
