Well Joe ... you should go buy a lottery ticket today. You're right on all counts. But then, you most likely used up your luck on this quiz. haha. Correct - the first two are the start of the Expedition Class. A 45 and a 56. I first formatted the Brown one (Customer Browned BTW) as a 500 psi gun when it was in the green steel. Then, I made the change to a regular format psi. I laterby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
HI Lon, Yeah, they do 1,000 frames per second. They still have a decent format at 420 fps. At 1,000 fps, they scale down to a film strip size. I wanted to try them all. I got rained out after I shot the 230, and then the HD video. I like the camera a lot. As with everything today, I jumped into "using it" before I "understood" it. The plan is to learn as I go. However; it's usuallyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Just edited this movie, and took out alot of the dead space. If you stop some frames when the hit occures, you can see the "spray" of the disintegrating slug in all directions. Gary I'll do some at a faster speed another time. Just getting warmed up. I'm also learning the movie maker program.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Everybody wear out on the thread? Or, did I stump ya?by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
BTW The gun was the shop mule in 8mm. It's moderated. The camera was set up at about 25 yards away - between the shooter and the target. That's what 230 fpe sounds like from 25 yards - and what the strike sounds like. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The Barnes "Acme" Bullet Sorter and reducer. The very first bullet to be sorted and reduced! haha. That WAS a 186 grain bullet. Doubt if it now weighs more than 15 grains. Those holes in the dirt with schrapnal in them are where the rest went, while emparting all that energy to the paddle. That slug was about an inch and a quarter long. The "splats" are little moreby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I mean ... Thank you for your comments. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Would you like to discuss the JOYS of the various movie maker programs I have on this laptop? Hummmm. I really don't see how 90% of the planet knows how to do this. It's apparently beyond me. I did, however; make some great movies ten years ago on my $50 computer..... Well, I deleted everything but the straight clips. Found how one of the programs would at least do that. I just donby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I took the completed target to the range this late afternoon. "They" had been predicting rain. It looked alot like the end of the world ... but I took the War Wagon. Thought it might just hold out. I set up the "stuff", and put the target out at 50 yards. It so happened that Jerry called as I was trying it out! Good timing. He was on the line while I took the first shot at it ever. Fiby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
You don't need all that "stuff" either, as with firearms. hehe Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah ... I could have added another milling machine to the shop in place of that piano case. haha. Bounced off of it a few times. Probably how I hurt my back .... Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That's funny. Everybody is on the same page - being concerned about anchoring the unit down. Nobody has wondered aloud as to how it works. Since the motion of the paddles are opposite to each other, I think it will moderate some of the shock. As the front is being slapped down, the mass of the rear one is coming forward at the same velocity. The paddles are very heavy. 5/16" or 3/8" thickby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Kent, Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. As it is, the plan was for the four pipe legs, to bite into the ground a couple of inches. Kelly saw it, suggested it needed tow wheels on one end - pull handle on the other. The field will see what mods it will require. If I had a Grizzly ... I might have to pour it in several yards of concrete. ;?) I'll get some video - you bet. Won't haveby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Built to take hard hits. You set it up so that you are shooting at the end. (The video is from the side). You make the two paddles different colors. From distance, as you knock one flat, the other will instantly appear ... ready to go again! Could make a great "Dueling" target. I designed it so it can take heavy hits, but I think our heavy 32s will also trip it at .. say 150 yards, etc.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I made this big bore steel target today. I've had it in mind for years. Finally, on Saturday, it seemed like the thing to do (while occasionally dealing with stocks in the oven). This will be neat, I think. You shoot one paddle, and it resets the other. You can shoot endlessly, never having to go set them up again. And, they should make a heck of a clatter when struck and resetting!by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Neil, The party line is that you need a perfect seal. The Gary line is that to squeeze thru a thousandth gap between the bottom of the grooves and the slug, takes more time that the slug has in the bore. But ... I'm not starting anything. haha. Gary When life allows, I'll send you some slugs to try. Since you actually shoot, and you are just around the corner ...by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
It's a Harig Joe. Really nice one I picked up used about 30 years ago. Hardly even broken in yet ... hahah. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Do NOT look at the pic titles. That's cheating. I didn't feel like changing them. Gotta run. Who knows the names of these rifles? Know anything interesting about them? Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Just put the 5th coat of stock oil on it all. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I hear you do a bit of "bone carving" yourself? Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Who knows what gun this is? Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Neil, Not to pick, but do you mean the "bore of the sizing die" is supposed to be spot on .308"? It reads "barrel". Also; you can see that this slug is "scrounging" the bore of the barrel. It's not only being cut by the rifling, but the sides of the bullet are dragging along the bottom of the grooves. You can note, from about half way down the bullet to the base, drag marks on the bodby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Looks pretty uniform Neil. That's a surprise. Your press is centering the ram very well. "If" they all were perfect - like this looks, it would fly." Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Being held by Amanda! haha. Jim ... you missed the posted Alpine pics? Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The Alpine 45 has been in the shop for some time. It needed new seals. Ironically, it became damaged at the same time. We got rained out at the range - in a very high wind - with lightening - at dark. The perfect storm. Everything got stowed asap. The Alpine got wet - got into a wet case - and got forgotten. It had needed some "fluffing up" from worn wood finish, some scratches, and just mby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Just a few more (thousand it seems) steps before this bluing session. Here's some parts of the Rearick Tundra Top of receiver being bored, counter bored, reamed, and threaded Transfer Port going into the housing. That's a Barnes handmade cutter being used. A piloted cutter like this would be a couple of hundred dollars commercial. I've made hundreds of them from tool steel. Somby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Peter, That target of Jerry's was @ 100 yards. He was "smokin' ... Thanks for the compliment. Yeah ... Kelly walked right by me the other day ... didn't recognize me ... Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
