I love the look of that folder you drew up there vary vary nice..unique without a doubt! Always seems easy on paper then the time starts adding up! Haha... Not sure of all the mechanics but I like that they are visible! I do hope you make it! Speaking of designs I was watching a documentary on Nikola tesla, he wrote about his ability to visualize mechanics/mechanisms in motion and work out compleby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey, that's a good variety of steels, heat treatment in itself is an art ! The process of Damascus steels is vary interesting also...not sure if you've ever done any work with stellite? I've got a couple different grades of it, but I tig welded some on the edge of my grandfathers lawnmower blades sharpened them and they are still sharp 5 years later some pretty tuff stuff! Also got some vescomaxby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, That folder is looking vary nice! I really like the spine or back plate not sure what you call it, but the detail on it is Awsome! I'd say all your pocket knives are great, I like the look/ style of your model 97..... I've always liked natural wood and that skeeter tusk u make.... I mean excavate from the cretaceous period...that is vary nice also...can't wait to see some more stuff you goby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Gary, Thought I'd ask... What exactly is skeeter tusk? The colors in the material are pretty unique can't say I have ever herd of it... The blade looks like it means business ought to Handel just about anything the kitchen can throw at it! Those bone folders are looking sweet, the inlay process is interesting kind of like welding takes a steady hand...and then some..you don't see that kinby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
It takes some ambition and skill to jump from one design to a completely different one, you do it very well! a lot of your air rifles do have night and day differences, its rare to see future past and present in air gun designs....by the same builder. It does have a vary futuristic look to it....9 mm bet it was still hitting hard with co2, that was my first gas of choice. Phillips to star bitby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
It's certainly an interesting air rifle what caliber is it? It's neat to see how building styles evolve over time! The multi colored finish on it is really nice, looks like it be a fun gun to shoot! Vary intriguing build. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I had a flip phone for years dropped it in the river a couple times still worked great it was built like a tank! You could not brake it lol, I phone much more fragile! The should make them water proof, the engineers need to revise that haha! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, Yup you can get the free trial, but they always get you some how... Again not the quality of a real high speed camera but you'll have fun with it, you can still get some awsome shots! Filmed some arrows I had with a lighted knock you could really see it trace! Fun stuff Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey guys that slow mo stuff sounds cool especially with a....cannon!! What? He makes cannons too! Theirs an app you can get on the I phone called slo-pro think its free but you can slow things down to 500 fps and 1000fps... You can really see the water in the air condense from a muzzle blast from a big bore! It's no where near the quality of a real high speed camera but fun to play around with! Pedro, yeah it's nice to have that spring tensioner to help with a fine tune, it looks like you'd have lots of space to work with being that the hammer and spring are central to the barrel... If you are unsure of exact dimensions for the hammer placement you could make detachable heads for your hammer to give you a variety for travel and weights...just a wild suggestion, I honestly don't knowby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, Nice job on the designing of the gaming unit that's pretty cool to have two systems in one! looks like it won't be to big and bulky either, is it about brief case size? Some neat stuff! I've always liked the air force gun designs, they have a futuristic look, and light weight from what I've heard, its unique how they incorporate the hammer and spring around the barrel, saves space! .308by Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Pocket knife looks good it's got nice lines to it, also like the colors and texture in the metal, vary unique! Like Sean was saying it's nice the blade is fully hidden, gives it a vary clean look! Defiantly an interesting design! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That's a nice belt sander you got there! Like how it's got a couple different surfaces were you can sand, makes it easy to get in those tricky spots! Man 1975 you guys are making me feel young! I was born in 1990, that grinders got 15 years on me lol.... Glad to see its still running looks nicely built. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Hey I'd be interested in one of your pocket knives! I certainly could use a good blade, the few I've owned were made in China and lost sharpness vary quickly...when ever I find my self needing something to cut with, I resort to using my keys haha....not ideal. If you happen to be crafting one closer to the low end of the your price range....I would be a happy owner! Let me know.. Thankby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That is a vary nice lead throwing machine you made there!! Really like the look of the shrouded barrel! I'm sure it will get a lot of good use... Nicely done! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey guys, From what I heard, the reason they put the regulations on them was to prevent farm animals/ livestock from being taken at night by people that were low on money/food during the Great Depression prohibition error not sure if it's true just what I heard....I've seen those oil cans too at gun shows... Still think you'd be better off doing the paper work and tax stamp to get a proper oby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, yeah your right for marking trees, For some resin I was thinking they we're used in construction lol.... Hmmmm.... semi auto, single shot, full?? Can't say I've ever seen anything like this.. does have a futuristic look! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Kurt, Maybe some sort of paintball marker? Like the ones they used on construction sites back in the day, to mark walls and what not... Just a wild Guess, all I can come up with... Certainly an interesting piece! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah some of those harder woods you could drill and tap em with a machine screw....if you go on Amazon theirs all kinds of tropical/ laminated wood blanks you can order....one time I left some bread in the toaster to long... Yap, could have drilled and taped that too..ha crunchy Thats a sweet little lathe no question! Vintage.. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Kurt, Haha hey I know there's a Limit to what he can show and tell lol... I get it you work hard to achieve your designs to a solid reliable function. I'm just can't tell if the decorative spots are a small weld beads engraved or the part engraved. Ether way it's Awsome looking! But yeah I got ya, you see something mechanical you want to kno what makes it tick. Your a lucky man to have soby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Hey I like the folded trigger block, seems like when it's all bolted together its a vary a strong design, being that it's one solid piece, I'm sure it still gets a lot of though holes put in and chased by some 10-24s and some 10-32s maybe. I also like the decorative patterns next to the center drill in the picture! How are they done? Can imagine it takes a steady hand and some time. Theby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Kurt, That thing is awesome!!! You could prolly make watch parts on that! Has just about every collet you would need! ha...Could turn some delrin, and some small stuff with it for sure... Looks like you keep your stuff in good order, very cool set up you got their! Thanks for sharing it, truly is a mini lathe! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, Yeah working out in a cold garage is no fun! We used to have one of those torpedo kerosene heaters in the garage worked great only down side was you'd have to keep a door open because of the fumes....Sounds like a good deal to be able to use the machinery! Definitely a plus...Was looking into a mini lathe and a mini mill for the garage never got around to it tho... Maybe when I find somby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, Nice job on the shot shells! I like your Idea for pumpin a bunch of them out...looks like the rabbits and squrilles around your place are in for some trouble! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm with Jeff on the food Looks like 5 star quality gettin hungry just lookin at it!! Nice the barrings came in you'll be makeing metal shine in no time! Good job on the sea turtle too, seen one while snorkeling those things can get huge! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
These shot shells sound like they would be great for some small gaming, I'm sure musterd seed or lead shot would work for them, it's a great idea! opens up the game variety you can hunt! Was pretty stoked they opened up deer hunting in Michigan with PCPs a couple years back! .357 or higher caliber is required and it has to be precharged. Some good stuff tho... Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, I am vary fortunate to have access to all the machinery, have spent a lot of time learning how to safely run it...been working on the new bolt design ,think this one will be a .50 cal with a full wood stock. Also been greatly improving on valve designs, took for ever to get my first valve worked out one the .357!! Hope your builds are going well also!! Enjoyed the H.M Buckley builds yoby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Sean, I never knew it was such an effective oil, being that you could put it in your cars engine or transmission and never have to Chang it! Always thought it was just for oil lamps and what not.. also did knot know the outlawing of it led to the great synthetics we have today....I still use 10w30 and 40 tho lol. Thanks for the info great articles vary interesting stuff! Would not want to gby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, That's a heavy duty buffer nice that it has two shafts! We hade metal smithing back in high school ,and it would seem like every day someone would catch an edge on the buffer and the piece they had been working on all week would be totally scraped!!! Happened to me once or twice what can you do tho.... Good to here you found some replacement the barrings... Sals barrel sounds like it wby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Sean, Thanks I appreciate it! still have not had a chance to weigh the .45 cal still can't find my fish scale....think I left it in the lake... Whoops! Yeah I'm sure he knows a thing or two about making air rifles too...lol..I just wanna know where I can get some of this whale oil your speaking about! Ha....anyhow thanks!
