Hey that expedition case is big enough to put your sandwich in !laughing again

I don't ever remember seeing on made from all copper yet . I really like the actual design and processes used for making these. It's really a huge amount of intricate work just to get to the pressing part . You've done well .

Thanks

Hey, thanks Kurt.

Heck ... I thought they’d turned off the internet. Yes, it’s a bunch of work. Especially if you are forming so much from a flat sheet of metal. I’ve made so many tools to do these. People just wouldn’t believe it. As you know, you have to precisely HOLD the metal in order to apply force to bend it. And when you want to curl small arms of metal perfectly around a small shaft, you’d think they were an inch think. They don’t want to bend. And, if they do, it’s at one weak spot - to kink, crack, break. The metal has to be well annealed to curl - along an arc.

I’ve made some more alignment tooling. Man it’s sweet to use the tools after your ideas produced them.

I haven’t made any of these in a while. I had to study my notes and read the inscriptions on the tools.

I’ve carried one of these for about 30 years. Works perfectly. Been opened and snapped closed tens of thousands of times.

Ok. I’ll have one finished and FOR SALE in a bit. Just a reminder of the other side of making stuff. Fun to watch til it gets dark.

Thanks for commenting Kurt

From earlier in the day. These are just a few of the odd group of things needed. These are 8not the special jigs, dies, forms, clamps, etc. these are the common tools. While I made many of the punches, scribes, chisels, etc., there’s a bunch of proprietary tools that handle clamping, molding, stretching ... in unique manners that aren’t shown. No point in making some young buck filthy rich making my Expedition Cases ... right??? Hah.

Well, Sunday Night is wrapping up. But you see where I’m going.

What shield should I make for this Antiqued Hammered Brass Case. A Classic Roman type Centurion with Sword? A Lion Rampant? A Pirate’s Skull? Tall Ship? Pirates Fighting? Art Deco Seahorse? Aztec Sun? Man in the Moon? Dancing Skeleton? Kraken? Am I getting close???

Don’t leave me hangin’

Ha!

Interesting. I have a nice Dem Bones Pressing from a Die I made 30 years ago. I’ll sneak a pic. But ... I’m sure I made a set of Rings for a Dr. and his wife back then. He is the one that put me into the historic Artwork “Dem Bones”. If I did two rings, then I must have a small scale die for that. But I can’t recall. I was planning to look again. Glad you mentioned it too!

The piece of work “Known historically as Zen Bones”, was actual copied from an original artistic brush work done by a Monk. I can usually find it .... but I just looked and couldn’t find it on the net.

Over the last 45 years, I’ve wondered what would have made people happy, as they viewed my posts. Each time, I come back to ...

1). My copy of what everyone else is making
2). My copy of what the latest fab thing is
3). My 8,688th copy of my own Model #1A
4). My unique originals

Still just can’t decide ...
