Wow Gary,

That's a fine piece. The numbers on your previous post are impressive for a pistol.

This one is screaming "take me out to the range"...

That's coming along very nicely! There's a bunch of inlet in that stock. Looks like it will fit the hand perfectly. Is this the one that will have the outrigger butt stock as well? That should shoulder smooth and quick. I'll keep my eyes out for it.

Glad things are smoothing out in the shop,

And now the stock has it's first coat of oil, and it's in the oven for the night ... (sandiung dust or snow mist on lens)

And I get a bowl of cereal. ;?)

looking smart , you dont realise how much letting in there is in a stock untill you actually look , or have to try and make one id guess.

Victory Shoulder Stock 003.JPG

I've completed the shoulder stock for the Victory Pistol.

Victory Shoulder Stock 006.JPG

Made a nice ribbed hard plate for the buttstock.

And, I'm oiling it now. It will make this into a really fine carbine.

Also makes a unit that can be broken down, and go into a quite small case.

Gary,

As always very nice!

By oiling do you mean lin seed oil?
I have a video I bought from Colonial Williamsburg - Gunsmith (1969)

The gunsmith builds an American rifle 1800's, with only tools available in the 1800's!! He uses lin seed oil to finish the stock and curious if that is what you are refering to.

By the way, I sent you snapshots of that video long ago, did you ever received them?
I should maybe make a post in here, it is amazing to see how they made the lock with hammer and blacksmith coal fired oven. The barrel is made from flat steel, hammer into a round hollow tube, and hammer welded together. Then drilled, reamed, rifled all with hand operated tooling as well at the octogon shape is all hand filed. When completed he fires it and seems accurate. Onyl takes two months to build one!

All the best!

Gotta like the idea of a packable rig. So much easier to move around.

I imagine the stock is offset a tad because of how it attaches?

Can't quite remember, I assume (it's dangerous, I know) that the way the stock attaches makes it be able to have different lengths of pull?

Hello Griffin,

The stock in in line. The outrigger is mounted into the wood, with the same offset as the riser. So - it feels like a normal stock.

Yes - you can change the length of pull, and rotate it for a custom cheek weld. thumbs up

Ooooops ... left it in the drying oven all day yesterday, as the cleaning marathon went on ....

It should be nice a dry. Cough, cough.

Gary's out rigger setup for the Chaparral works great! The kids enjoy having a gun that can fit them perfectly. It also allows adults to shoot a correct size with just the turn of a hex key. It also doubles as a pistol for that extra challenge.

Nice job Gary,
