I'll edit the names. Got this from a customer who purchased a gun from a previous owner. I've not seen this gun in about 14 years or so.

This customer also has a Nitro Express on order, and it's late.

It just started out without a greeting ...

Copy:

No, this is not an Email fussing about where is my gun, rather it is a
letter of THANK YOU for your quality! This is one you have never heard
before..... I live in .............. where thursday we
were hit by a Super Cell for the remnants of Lee and it rained down over
14" of rain in a 14 hour period. Dams broke, Bridges were washed away
and entire sections of highways are completely gone. I live in a home
above the water just outside of ............ and have several acres
with several buildings. Under one of those buildings I have an Actual
Bank Vault that is buried 8 ft underground. In this Vault I keep all my
firearms and also the Bison I have of yours, It was I believe your first
one that was supposed to appear on the front of an Airgun Magazine, I
think you had made it for yourself. Well anyway last night I returned
find that the Water table had risen so much that 4 feet of water had
flooded this Vault. No pump could keep up fighting the entire water
table. I spend hours long into the morning removing all of my
collection.

THANK YOU! when I opened up the aluminum hard case that the Bison was
Kept in I was blown away, it had been completely submerged and there was
not a spot of rust anywhere the cold bluing was wonderful and even
though the stock was wet the rifle needed only a wipe down and spray of
Rem oil to clean it up and with a good swabbing of the barrel it is
ready to go once the wood is dry. Only my collectible antique black
powder guns did as well (back then you washed your gun in water so they
were designed to handle it) Most of my modern guns showed rust already
starting in areas (AR-15s were the worst). I hope you can feel proud
knowing that your quality can withstand a complete flood, I certain no
one would have ever put one of your rifles through this test. I can tell
you it PASSED WITH COLORS.

Thank You! Thank You
You build for several lifetimes of service!

Singned: ............

P.S. Where is my Darn Gun (LOL) Keep up the great work I know it will be
worth the wait.

End Copy.

Hi Kent,

Small box on the third page. haha.

Hey - actually ... that gun was early. It was the cold blue product I was using then. I worked my buttstock off to do a good job on them. I had my own technique which I found made it even and dark. But - it wasn't suggested for this. hahah.

I've had some of those reported back to me with rust spots. However: the ones I had for a while did not fail. And, the ones that failed seemed to fail in very distinct etched finger print patterns. So; I think the failure was more bench craft and cleaning then otherwise. As you know, fingerprints are very, very acidic ... especially in hot weather. They will etch most anything.

I suspect this gun has been properly cared for for 14 years ... (until now ... hahah) ... and therefore; it's lasted.

I was very pleased.

Cool story! Proper care can survive a flood but inattention can be harmful in days...
