Loading the Trailer

This morning, I took the door off the frame of the forge stonework.

Next I got a ladder, and rigged an overhead hoist point. I got out a truckload of chains, bolts, winch, etc. Then cut the gas forge loose from the air pipe feed. The threads were frozen and seems all my pipe wrenches moved South.

With the electric hoist, I dragged the gas forge forward and upward out of the stonework. I then lowered it to the floor.

Kelly helped me offload the stuff in the trailer which was in the way. We brought some tools to work with. We've used many of them so far. But they were all in the way. So they had to be moved in order to begin loading the trailer for this trip.

Next - the forge was placed on the "Slick" transport sled. I reinstalled the chains to the forward floor mount inside the trailer. Used the winch to pull the slick/forge into the trailer. Release and block.

Next, we went for the large wood/coal stove I built decades ago to heat the shop. I'm not giving it away and don't have the patience to sell it. Besides, I have a large metal shop that will occasionally need heat. It lets options open. Besides, when the Apocalypse comes ... I might be glad for it. The Mayans might just have been off a few months. hahaha. Yes - I know that was to be the end of the world ... but I have work to do - I can't go. whistling

Next I fight the large shop air compressor that is installed here.

Then, tomorrow ... I'm scheduled for epidural back injections. Had a looooong visit with one of my Specialists earlier in the week. The trip up here has been quite a mixed bag so far.

Thanks for reading. Wish it were more fascinating.

Lot's of work there. Where does the forge go at BPS? That wood stove will get used sooner or later, the winters are not always unifomly balmy where you're at...

Current plan would be in the welding shop. Heat can easily be drawn off into the wood shop.

Forging will most likely be in the end of the welding shop or under a shed roof addy.

Trailer is about half full at this point.

Tearing down and packing is where the time is. Wish it had all been in neat boxes ... Another idea! ... but then ... it would have been soooooo difficult to use the tools that way prior to the move .... More coffee

Trailer is just about loaded now. Thank GOD!!!

We've handled a ton of details and will leave the place in better shape. Handled a bunch of medical details. Handled a bunch of auto/truck maintenance, tags, repair, issues. Bought MORE fuel oil. More sad

Couple to a few days and we'll be back on the road. Yeah.

Hi Neil,

Trailer is loaded. Now, for a break ... I get to tow it 1,100 miles. But then ... nowthatIthink .... For a break ... I get to unload it and put it away. However; THEN ... As a reward, I get to tow the trailer back up here! Then !!! wow ... I get to .... Ah ... Never mind. It gets to be too much joy and happiness for one man to stand!!!

Seeing the bottom edge of the old roll up door in the top of the pic I posted ... reminds me ...

The door has been sticking. I've had it up and down a hundred times loading. The door won't get used for five or ten years at a time - as machinery and shelves will be installed in front off it. Then ... some shake up or tool need will require it to be cleared.

Well - turns out the bottom right corner had degraded - allowing the bolted on wheel carrier to twist - jamming the track. And - it got worse and worse and finally failed big time. Great - I LOVE a PROJECT!!!!!

Nothing for it but to drag out my tools - such as they are. I brought a bunch of stuff North with me - but still don't have any stationary tools to make integral door parts. I cobbed together a set up to make up a bottom rail pc., and grafted it in. Got to use my 20v DeWalt Impact Driver to drive 8" screws up into the stiles. Worked well. Fun job in the gray/chill/yuck ... felt like it just HAD to snow. There was the occasional flake. Lovely exterior carpentry weather.

A nice drive to BPS will be just fine with me ... winking smiley

Looks like you are again ahead of the curve, Gary. Here is a story about my second most favorite gun maker, Berreta. Seems they are also soon to be FROM Maryland. Voting with their feet, it's the American way.USA! USA!

[beforeitsnews.com]

Here's a heart warmer. The gate attendant on our way back from Montana, took the time to ask for a round of applause for the military members on our flight home. The were seated ahead of everyone else, to big applause in the Atlanta airport !!!We Need You!

Happy Trails,

Kent
