There is a spring loaded tool steel button that locks into ports in the tang of the knife. The pivot sleeve, and the lock points, provide two pints of contact. That is enough to lock, but not enough to time out minute movements. The crossbar at the top of the knife is ground into an eccentric cam lobe shape. Because of this, it may be rotated to take 100% of play out of the lock up - yielding three points of contact for the blade.

It's a complex system but a joy to fiddle with. This is the type of knife you just open and close and open and close - just to experience the precision of its action.

Very pretty piece of work there, and it seems to pack a lot of blade length for its handle size.
