Challenge the cells

As I work thru a dozen parts of many projects thru the week, I have to steal away to some Challange - as a stress block. These weeks have been a bear. Details - I won't specify. As I go through my works in progress, too much of my mind is free to consider and worry about everything rlse. So; unless I can find something sufficiently unique to change the channel - my brain will eat me alive. I swap back and forth to make best advantage of whatever mood is controlling this segment of the day.

So; I've done molds, and gun parts, and knife parts, cases ... and THIS is almost finished. Just laying together here. This type of work is always just below the surface.

Now ... Preamble Complete .... This is a Vest Pocket Folding Knife. Stainless blade will be mirror polished. Blade folds completely inside the case when closed. Ring on back for clipping it to a watch chain. This is a "one off engraving". No stamps this time. 100% original, one off artwork.

Will most likely be finished and available this week. Remember - injections Tuesday. (Don't eat after 5am). winking smiley

Hi Gary,

Very nice looking knife! Is the case brass?

Challenging the brain? Seems like you are well disciplined with that. I tend to be less creative under stress. Ended up working 6 hours today due to a Windows update that failed. IT tried to fix but the fix wiped out the design files I was working on. He said it should never have happened but it did. A reminder to save precious data on a backup device.

All the best with injections. I had one on my right shoulder. Was good for two months and now shoulder is hurting again. A coworker told me you can only get two injections per joint for life. Not sure it's true. I had an MRI done but have to wait till September to get results.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Hello Pedro,

Hope you also find pain relief.

Your Specialist will be a better source. My personal experience has been that many more injections are possible, with approx. 6 months between ... unless pain becomes quite serious ... and then there have been a number of 4 month cycles. One often overlooked point, when healthy people are giving advice; is that "We are broken - and we hurt". Therefore; we are not advocating an alternative healthy regiment of veggies, jogging, and sweat lodges. We have to do things to "turn down the pain", in order to have any kind of bare quality of life. Therefore; we must do things that are not strictly in the owner's manual which came with the new Gary and Pedro. thumbs up

Best,
Gary

That's a great looking set up . Would that be a bone handle ? That size of knife is also so versatile you can do almost any thing with it . You are lucky the injections work for you!
I tried them a few years back and was given 2 per week for a month into spinal column . They didn't work at all and couldn't even notice a difference after 2-3 days . They said it had to build up in your back and to do the whole months worth . The worse part from what I remember was chance for infection was high or missing the exact spot could paralyze you . Titanium ! Ya that's the ticket ( not stainless Sean )

Gee Kurt!

Your bedside (or is that graveside) manner is a bit discomforting on a gloomy, rainy morning. More sad

Maybe I'll just eat a carrot instead.... boing

The case is Brass. Has a neat old antique feel about it.

Nice work Gary. I like the shape and the whole concept of this knife. Any special reason for using stainless steel on the blade?

Good luck on your next injections.

Hello Julio,

I figured this knife might end up being a "fidget toy", or something to "fiddle with" as you think (where are the bandaides?)

So; I thought it might get a lot of finger prints and not get wiped off much. Just a whim.

Why open it anyhow? You'll just cut yourself...

Right! You want to keep this stuff in "unused condition". rolling happy smiley

Just to check, once in awhile, that the blade is still in there; you could use the cresant cut out on the edge of the rear scale, which corresponds to the nail nick in the blade. wink.

Very nice!

What material did you use for the scales?

Hi Lon,

It is a "self frame / scale ". Solid Brass.

I think it gives the whole thing a Classic "Printing Press Plate" feeling.

So how does it get black color in the design ? Do you have a magic sharpie? Are going to wait till finished to release selling price? I think that would fit my pocket just great !

Hello Kurt,

Thanks buddy. The black is chemical oxidation. Permanent.

I will be making more of this type. Different scenes too. Different topics.

This first knife is spoken for. They will be approx $495 depending upon artwork and detailing. This is all one-off artwork. Hand engraving.

I have a second in parts. Really appreciate you asking Kurt!

Best,
Gary
