Or ..., filing/carving inside a wooden stock channel, to fit an action.

Or ..., filing/shaping inside a leather sheath ... to tune the welt material so that the blade slides in and out of its sheath properly. thumbs up

Don't know why, but these smallish curved files are called "Riffling Files."

Nothing to do with barrels, other than inletting them.
