Again, and Again, and Again ...

We had one of those Apocalyptic Storms. 5-10 minutes.

We mad dash to unplug everything. I do before leaving the shop. Well, last night I was so tired I barely made it home, up the lane. And, I didn't unplug the CAT5e cable from house to the shop.

We had this storm. Loudest, brightest flash. First a killer - then two more.

And .... ALL OF OUR NEW STUFF IS FRIED. Again.

Shop Wireless Router. (About 2-3 days old). House Modem - actually rattles like it's full of small stones. House Witeless Router. All fried - again.

And now I can go back to work.

Gary,

Wow, those storms must be something else. I have only had one router fail on me, probably mostly due to age. So no matter how well grounded the system is, you still need to worry about unplugging things?

Upgraded recently to a cable system with 75 Mbps speed. Had lots of issues with the 25 Mbps system from another provided (fiber-optic) and so far so good, very quick downloads, uploads.

Hope you can sort this out, donit want to keep buying cables, forget to unplugged etc.

Hi Pedro,

4 different carriers over the years. Everybody's equip gets fried.

Everything grounded. But they say a lightening strike is nothing like a surge.

This new company bought one of the old ones. It's much cheaper now. They claim 100 Mbps but that's until eyerybody gets online.

Yeah. The lightening is a real hoot here. Wasn't in the brochure....

Actually, it's 7pm Sunday night, and the cable guy is supposed to be on his way. I'll let ya know.
