I’ve worked on what I could as I could. I know I opened the Genie’s Bottle upside down. But, the stuff I report is true.

Last week was painful. It appears that the fall I took damaged my wrist beyond just a bad sprain. It will heal but endless small repetitive motions (engraving, hand sanding, jeweler’s hammer) are like the pain versions of audible fingers on a chalk board. Lateral torque is very painful. It will heal. Then the killer Sinus Cold, lower back ache, ending with the cold settling in the chest for a couple days of coughing. Miraculously that passed quickly!!! Prayer and a pound of Vick’s Rub!!!

Now we have been preparing for a CAT3-4 Hurricane hitting the coast 30 miles away. Bought a chainsaw tonight. My gas saw is seriously screwed up. I have 2-3 electric ones all screwed up too. And .... “electric chain saw” .... hummmm

So wish us luck. We have food, generator, gas, tractor, fuel, broken old man, car full of gas if we need to bug out. Talked to an EMT this evening in town. He had a pale look I didn’t like.

We were at or by Walmart 3-4 times today - morning and night. The gas lines for 8-10 stations were crazy all day. Was like 1974 again.

Here are a couple projects to pay for: new cheap chainsaw, food, gas, etc., etc.

Prayers for you, your wife, and all those the storm may effect. We got our share in Houston last year. Stocking up is never a bad idea.

FOR MY READERS: WE ARE SAFE. THANK YOU

We had electric flickering from early afternoon on.

And ... our Generator failed. Hahhhh ... look ... there is still one guy in the back that is surprised. Hahaaah.

I worked on the cursed thing for about two hours. It only got worse (storm and generator).

While I worked, Kelly watched the trees swaying and grew less happy about the whole thing. Power went out about 2:30-3pm.

We had prepared both to stay, AND to bug out. We left about 3:30pm. Oddly, I-10 was barren. We cruised West. We’ll check on power tomorrow. Take it from here. We don’t know what damage we may have. Many trees and big limbs were down on and along roads as we were crossing the smaller roads to I-10.

As you may know ... the Florida Panhandle is nothing but Pine Trees, Yukon Holly Scrub, and Live Oak trees. It’s so densely covered in trees and shrubs, that you travel between green walls wherever you go. I don’t like that feature - but such it is. So; avoiding trees in a hurricane is only possible it you hit the coast to one side or the other of said storm. Otherwise ... you drive North til you break out. We could make the fastest safest Progress heading West by South.

Thanks for all of you who have thought of us. That means a lot to me.

Gary
