There ya go. A 50 Caliber Light Saber!



I set up a temporary indoor velocity testing range that allowed me to gather some data. I’ll have more later and will do the Outryder Testing there.

WOW, breaking 1000 FPS. Amazing but of course you lowered the weight of the slug to accomplish this. None the less still something. It will be interesting to see how the lighter ammo groups verses the heavier, slower FPS slugs.

Must have been loud firing in your shop?

I wear ear cups. Hardly hear it.

The shop is Spray Foam Insulated. That helps directionally. The roll up doors are the weak spot. They face AWAY from population. Still, I’m sure it’s loud. But that’s one of the reasons we settled here.

I haven’t yet gotten to test the accuracy. There’s also the 170.7 grain. It flew 967 FPS. I have high hopes for its accuracy from previous experiences. And I have the 207 slug which I know is accurate even from the Smoothy. I have to test it’s velocity again.

I’m also extremely pleased with this Rotary Breech. Pedro, it’s opens with a gentle push. And it seals to propel a 50 caliber slug to 1,017 FPS. I’m proud of that.

I made a slight difference and the slug went to 1,017 FPS. I did it again and it Duplicated 1,017 FPS.

Not bad for a 50 caliber. I suspect someone will say.

Here’s a point I wanted to make again plz. I think it’s interesting ....

I delivered this rifle 8 years ago. Nothing has been done to it while away. And I’ve done nothing to it since I acquired it again. I stuck that hammer weight on for a test, then recalled the effect. I took it back off.

And .... minute ....

I remembered that I had this. A couple of index cards originally sent with the Airgun.



The 1,017 FPS was just achieved with 2,850 psi.

I’ve wanted to re-examine the performance of the gun after having been away from me and not serviced for 8 years. I’ve been pleased to see it do so well. Also, in between my testing sessions, it remains exactly where I left it’s psi condition.

Hope some have found the testing interesting. Much of the tooling I’ve remade was needed for the Outryder and it’s testing. Perfect timing.

The name of the gun should be mach 1 outrider... i know the light slug will slow fast, but still... an achievement...

I’ll enjoy doing some field testing with the guns here. I’m really glad to get back into this area of my business, and I’m anxious to get a gun out to a ledger owner or two. I’ve really been pushing as much as possible.
