I’m anxious to do that too. Do you know, I’ve never even struck that die yet! Used to be, I’d have finished up a Die at 3:17 am .... and by 4 am, I’d have struck a test piece. As it is now, the Board of Directors decided it would be nice if the first Strike could be put to use. So I have to have parts red to strike. Either a Case or the Ferrule for a new “Long Cane” I’ve been working on for myself a bit at a time.

I had decided I wanted a new cane to be more comfortable “Standing” for periods of time. I thought I’d invented something ... and then Kelly sent me a pic of someone who had “pinched my idea”! Can you believe it?



You see ... hands clasped, it will relieve weight on the lower back.
Well ... I’m not far away from being ready to strike the ferrule metal. Hummmm. Let’s see.

Sorry for the late response. Leave it to the Queen to steal your ideas. Must have spies in your area or a x-ray satellite that can see through your shop and determine what you are working on?

I under about striking a die after you have completed it. I get the same way if I am so close to completing an item and want to test it before final assembly or what have you.

Looking forward to seeing the oak leaf and related struck into material. Be neat to see the imprint after having personally seen the dies.

I have your name on one of them. I have one more sold, and I’m also making parts for yet another that will be available. I’m very glad that people like them. I’m going to make every effort to keep one or more of these on hand.

.... there are several tips, several bottoms, and some flat plates that are in the process of being Embossed.

The technique on a panel this large and detailed, is not simply to strike the die. There is a lot of precise hammer work involved. Alas, that provides opportunity for imperfection to creep in. (My stack of flawed plates has grown as well). Sure is rewarding when you finish a good plate and raise it in the proper die set.

I’ve received my expedition case and wow ! It is over the top awesome. I’ve still got it next to my lazy boy in the black velvet pouch . Every night I pull it out and play with it click , snap click snap . It like fidgeting with a zippo lighter but snaps with Authority ! I think of what I will use it for and when I’ll carry it .
I’ve got a perfect idea I’ll share with y’all later unless I come up with a different/ better idea in which case I might need ANOTHER ONE ! Haha

You know, that’s an excellent idea. And I can tell that you need another one. I’ll soon show a different version too; with Oak Leaves and Acorns as a top motif. They are addictive, but therapeutic at the same time. . A great aid to arranging your thoughts. Some might say .. “Your case is empty!” On the contrary! The case is full of thoughts and ideas. Practically bursting with Possibilities!

You are on to something, my friend. Continue your Lazy Boy Research Sessions. Who can say when; but we’re sure you will come up with the next world changing innovation. Why, the plans for “Air Conditioning”, the “Double Dip Ice Cream Cone”, and that small “basket ball hoop over the office trash can”, probably resulted from just such Lazy Boy Contemplation Case sessions! Little doubt.

I think it’s three right now. I have made extensive tooling, and comprehensive notes.

I’ve made a series of top strikings, followed by precise hammer work to follow. Alas, every individual was not worthy and was lost. And so I say I believe I have three good ones in the group.
