There are a lot of steps to a Case like this. If it is to be a fine object which will last generations.

There is a lot of detail cut into the Die Block. The heat treat must preserve that detail,

And the tooling must be capable of getting that detail printed onto the Nickel Silver. Nickel is relatively hard and fats more difficult to print. Note the detail in this super close up photo.

I started discovering the details of making Dies and retrieving prints off of them, in 1980. One of the techniques I’ve spent decades developing. Here you’ll note it’s been hard on me. Haha.

Thanks for checking in.

Hello Gary,

Nice to see you making progress. No doubt the results are an accumulation of decades of practice refining the process.

Looks like this case is coming along well. All the best as you move towards the hinges and then finalizing the build.

Hope your health allows for a continued pace of productivity.

All the best,

Pedro

Hi Peter,
You know the biggest challenge? It’s building knives for a while, then building jewelry for a while, then engraving, then making tooling, back to a knife - a different kind of knife, then fixing a washing machine, then cutting Dies ... but for a different metal. Back to knives ... finish some jewelry ... etc. It's very hard to get back in the groove from one thing to another. You just can’t keep all the numbers in your head. And you can’t keep all the required tools out. You also never quite put away the half finished parts and all the tools. The fix is easy. It would be on page one of the “Gary Barnes Did This” book yet to be written. If I just stuck to one thing, it would be sooooo much easier and faster. And the Book would began with a picture. Caption: “He made a bunch of these”. Page 2: “Thanks for Reading”.
My book will be just a bit longer - should it be written. wow

Thks Peter,
Gary

Have #2 almost ready. (Third one out)

Think about them. They are very nice.
