Serial no 165. This is a Rare Braddock Heights, Md., knife. I made it for a good friend 12-22-1979. He’s brought it in for its 44 year tune. Do NOT TOUCH THE PATINA!!!!!!

That’s O-1 Tool Steel, Sambar Stag, Brass Frame. During 1979, I rented a home in Braddock Heights near Frederick. While I was away on a knife show, the landlord was plumbing and unknowing set a fire in the attics. I returned from the show with the top two floors of the house in my basement shop. Oddly, those tools I’d bought in 1975 still serve me today.

Enjoy
Gary

I love the patina too and just the knowledge of years of use too . It’s held up very well .
Is that a locking mechanism I see on the edge view ?
As you know I carry my md 97 in my pocket every where I go . It has seen some use and abuse and held up well after 10 years or so I’m guessing !
I’m kinda worried though . I’ve gotten chosen for jury duty and even though I’ve got a titanium knee and back repair with titanium I will feel very odd going into the court house without my favorite tool ( not weapon )

Thanks
Kurt

Oh my Brother .... Jury Duty. I sat on a Murder Drug Dealer Trial. There was a traditional Classic Farm Family Man in the panel. And he was 100% convinced that if you just got the Perp down on the farm. Fed him well. He’d become a model citizen. It was a challenge.

And all the time his defense was that he had accidently shot the wrong guy in a deal he got stiffed in. Shame when you accidently snuff the wrong guy. Hate that!

Hope your trial is linear. God Bles

There is no doubt that Barnes knives hold up to the test of time!

Interesting story behind the knives. 44 years, that is a testament to the quality of the knife. Man, coming home to a fire is terrible. Survived a house fire in May, 1989 so I have a taste of what it’s like. Good thing your tools weren’t ruined.

Hoping you are able to continue with your work.
