Check out my adjustable base

for the boom-box
Photobucket
I previously had a Mickey Mouse base on it that wasn't adjustable. Now I can adjust it to different angles for 100 yards, 150 yards etc.
Hopefully I can play with it in the weekend smiling smiley

Excellent job Neil,

Looks good. I'll bet that box really helps too.

Hey - did you ever get a final read on your 308 sizing issue?

Hi Gary

Thanks for the reminder..I did the shooting a couple of weeks ago, but not the analysis. Here's the result:

1) Velocity (2 sets of 3 shots over the chrony, averaged): .308 - 775 fps; 774 fps
.3095 - 776 fps; 776 fps

2) Group size (2 sets of 3 shots at 50 yards, in the field, rested roughly): .308 av 1.391" ctc
.3095 av 1.265" ctc

The conclusion, after a less than exhaustive test....velocity very similar, accuracy a slight margin to the fatter slugs.

Now, about that guided tour of your workshop....boing

Cheers

Nice work Neil! That will be perfect for sighting in the Yukon! You'll just have to trot off and get those tickets now! (And for God's sake, don't forget my tech support!)

Neil,

Pretty good setup. How do you keep the bullet box from sliding?

Lon, it's quite a snug fit, and I usually rest the back end of it on the shooting bench so it doesn't move during a session. However, if the new set-up causes a problem I will screw a stop on each side of the box.
Cheers
Neil
