It's always a bit of a danger to show parts of show pcs. prior to assembly. Sort of like just staring at one square inch of an old Master painting .... "Hummm ... sort of dark ... isn't it?" eye rolling smiley

But ... there are so very many different disciplines that must be mastered if you are to put together a work just like it was visualized in your head. You recall that the Timber Wolf has many, many brass parts. And you recall the great carved stock, and the antique feel of the lines. Well, I certainly couldn't pimp it out with chrome spinners, now could I? hahah.

So ... how to add some classy well worn age, without beating it with a chain like the 70's pine furniture. knucklehead

How about this ...

a_Wolf_patina4.jpg

That, my friend, takes a bunch of time ... and it has to be done just so to get that crystaline patina.

Anyway ... like it or not ... that's the look I wanted for the parts. It will all come together soon. Green bowing

Thanks Guys,

I'm really glad you like it. I wasn't sure if you all would. That's great. I love to use the stuff I developed many years ago with hard won knowledge.

Hi Don,

I developed the technique some years ago. Probably 30 or more. I like it. One of those things I don't get to do alot ... but then ... it pops into my mind that it would be the right thing for a project.

thumbs up

Just a note: You recall I "had" started a tube sight mount. I decided against finishing it now. Too much work to finish it - and the front one ... and then ... it also sort of locks in the gun for that sort of old optics. The tubes of those old scopes are about 15mm. 4 or 6 power. That's not enough for alot of people. It would be an "acquired taste". So; I tabled that idea. I didn't want you to say ... HEY!!! when I show the finished gun.

i have a big brass pin laying on my office table i pulled up from a naval boat sunk in the 1760s , and its not as nicely marked as your stuff , and its hung about for 300 years ,,, thirty years is just a blink of the eye. looks well shabby ,,,
wow ,,, never thought id call any of garys work shabby .
fantastic finish , even for me , a stainless steel worshiper.
