Hey Kurt, That's good you guys stay on top of the welds , some places could care less on quality as long as it's cheep haha... You guys defiantly do some good work....they tested me on face and root bends with various metals and thickness... It was stressful watching that machine bending the steel like it was nothing! I'm with you on the metal, any time I see something metal I can't help to wby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, That sounds like a vary difficult certification to get! It was a similar process when getting a tig welding cert, they would have you do various welds and then put the part in a crazy bending contraption to see if the welds would crack.... However the steels weren't under the same stress as a heat treated blade, takes some skill to get something like that right... And then be Abel to doby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
A guy I work with has a old Winchester knife, has a similer blade shape....it's intresting how there are so many different blade designs thru out history. Was watching a show on blade smithing, they were makeing katanas, when they would heat treat the blade they would cover the spine or back with clay to make it riged... Intriguing technique. Vary delicate process.. makeing a blade! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Wow! Those colores look like there strait out of the 1990s! Turnd out great..... That stuff will make some nice folders! Some good specimens you found there! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, No worries.... I noticed this one has a slightly different blade being that it angles down on a steeper slope, It does have an old fashion look to it, one of a kind with the tusk no doubt! Can't believe how sharp you can get those blades! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Julio, Thank you.. A lot of people I've showed are vary impressed by it, I found a small felt pouch I can put it in if I'm carrying it, should keep it safe from pocket wear. Thanks mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

I'd say it's got some good power poke in thru that steel siding!! Pretty impressive! All the data, and every factor that goes into making a pcp shoot is staggering! Kind of resembles playing an instrument so Many different keys to tune! Depending on what kind of song you want that air rifle to sing! Lot of effort goes into it! Looks like Sals gun plays a nice quiet tune! Thanks for sharing theby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Kurt, That is some heavy metal there! Make sure you were your steel toes! That machine is awesome you can do some work with that thing! Hey Gary, The thought I get is most people don't realize the whole concept of hand crafted.. Not that it is there falt, but like you were saying they don't see the material being ground/ milled/ turned/ engraved etc...and the time and skill it takes to learn how to do it correctly.. If you were to put a hand crafted item and a store bought item next to each other some people would not be able tby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey glad to here you were able to save it! Hate it when something like that happens the minuet of disbelief after words is The worst! Then reality sets in.....okay how can I fix this hahah.... Happens to every craftsmen once in a blue moon.. Happens once or twice a day at our shop.... Then the welder gets to put a bandaid on it haha... Can't get that time back tho...on the bright side it's good tby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Hey Kurt, That sounds like some crazy hard stuff! that's harder then some carbides...wow!!! Bet you could make a sweet blade out of that stuff...Sounds like it will be a fun project to do! Stellite also work hardens but not in the 90s! I weld a lot of pierce dies punches gripper fingers etc.... With it. Then the parts get turned or machined to size. Stuff is super expensive also for 10 pounby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
