Hope everyone has a great new year! It's been good talking to new ppl, again glad to be here. Thanks, mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Vary cool design I like the copper!! It gives an old fashion antique look. That's awsome you made your own rolling mill looks like it works great. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, The Stock is really taking shape...looks great! It's nice to see the progress of a project documented, it really gives a insight of the steps and time it takes to make it happen.. I've turned some walnut and some laminated wood on the lathe, walnut was much harder but still cut nice. Can imagine doing it by hand must take a lot of practice..like the ambidextrous design. Nice work! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt Thanks for the pictures! 180$ is not too bad, seen the ones with the hose are much more expensive..thanks again Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, Yeah could imagine welding galvanized steel with glue on it, nooo fun, or die grinding, sanding etc...I've got a small table hood that's hooked up to the blower for are surface grinders it works some what okay could be better tho..I'll have to check out the miller brand helmets, thanks for the info.. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice!! Turning nothing in to something vary usefull...I tig weld for about 80% of my work day most the time with stellite welding rod, probably not the greatest stuff to breath haha. I Like the idea of the positive air flow mask Kurt is talking about, wish are company would by one...looks like your hood will work great tho! Gotta love some fresh air. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Can't believe all the detail there is! I like the hammered look on cuffs vary nice job.. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, I watched the same series of clips a couple months back, could not believe how simple it is! Was half tempted to get the camo kit for a synthetic stock but never got around to it...some pretty cool stuff. Might have to look into back into it. Thanks Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, A 1/16! Don't be so hard on yourself...it was prolly more like a couple thousands lol...yeah that nice it's so close to town. The bows look nice also, I like how they use a whisker biscuit to hold the arrow in place, the one I have just has two prongs for the arrow to rest on, always seems to slip off. Some good fun tho. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, It's amazing how accurate those compound bows can be, with some practice. Vary nice group! Like how they put the balloons out ther, looks like a nice range too. Thanks Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt Agreed with the hood ornament... It could be made from stainless, I'm sure you kno, much more expensive material...when I win the lottery Maybe some titanium. Thanks Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Sean I tried weighing it today with a stand on scale, but could not get an accurate reading... The scale has seen better days! Will need a fish scale or something once I get it weighed I will let you kno. Thanks Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Speaking of attachments think this one needs a few more maybe?by Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey guys, what Gary said it does all that and more lol... With the carbon fiber tank attached! Great rifle for a hike in the woods, can't even tell it's there! In all honesty tho I have never actually weighed it. However I can tell you it's lighter then my dads .35 marlin lever action with out the scope, but not by much... That was somewhat my goal, to get it as light as possible withoby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
No need for a flux capacitor anymore... Some good stuff they got these days! Cool pic. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt similar conditions also, roads weren't too slick visibility was close to none Around 6 am. turnd 20 min drive into a 40. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Karl I've found it to be some what of struggle at times for people to relate with air guns wich can somewhat be expected..so I'm glad to be here, good positive atmosphere. Thanks again for the welcome Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary Some good quotes maybe? "imagination is more important than knowledge." -albert einstein “Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”-Theodore Roosevelt "Whatever satisfies the soul is truth" -walt whitman Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt You hit the nail on the head lol! You couldn't be more right.. It's always hurry hurry then.... snap broken tap or end mill.. Send the part to the welder for a band aid! Or better yet just remake it. Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice will have to show this one to my old man lol.. By the way we needed those red lines yesterday!! Hot job! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Just wanted add I am Not trying to use your fourm as a sales pitch for my air rifle, just trying to get opinions that's all..I've decided to keep my builds as a personal hobby..compleating a build is satisfying enough. I'm a big fan off your work, also vary intrigued with the knives you make! The one with the full green hand grip is awesome! Thanks again Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, I checked out the the pictures of the rifle it's a awesome piece! would be vary proud to own it! I like the custom case too keep it nice and snug when traveling down those Michigan roads. Lots of good info on this forum.. Good luck hunting, maybe we will get some snow soon! Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Thanks for approval of the membership, it's great to talk to fellow airguners. Also thanks for the compliment on the rifle, I've been vary privileged to have grown up around a machine shop and learn the skills, much appreciated. That was the first deer I got with an air rifle it was about 25 yards away and was a clean shot. Again happy to hear from all you guys. Thanks, Mattby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, Thanks for the compliments, and good advice. It's nice to get insight from other air gunners, I'm just going to keep it as a personal hobby. That air rifle in your picture I've seen it on airgundevolpment. I see you to are a machinist! Great work vary nice air gun! It's amazing all the planing and effort it takes to build an air rifle... Not to mention set up time on various milling and tby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, the bolt actually has a 4 lug locking system one external and the rest internal, it's designed so even if the bolt is in the upward position and fired the hammer will not strike the valve. In order to take the bolt out you would have to disassemble the whole top half. Thanks for lookin out tho,I can see the the concerns with just that one bolt handle holding it in that could be bad! A goodby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, thanks for the compliments. The mag was not in the pictures, but it clips in between the scope rail and loading port it's gravity feed so nothing to special..yeah that wood forehand grip was kind of scary getting it to the proper dimensions. Had to bore it out on the lathe to get the proper size to fit, had my fingers crossed it wouldn't crack. It's kind of modeld after eugene stoners m-16by Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, thanks for the reply, next time a air gun show rolls around I would like to check it out. I've actually never been to one, been to the gun and knife tho. Yeah your right on about the r&d and testing theirs a lot that goes into that it's practilly a science ..The few air rifles I've made have always been for hobby. Definitely not ready to sell them...don't kno if I ever would be. More or lesby Matt b - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
