Thanks for the update Gary, it's good to hear you're able to keep a few plates spinning. Sure gets more difficult over time. Pistols, you say? Mmmmby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks guys. Just got word from the engineers that I need to raise the property 5' with "engineered fill" (translation; thousands of layers of tightly compressed $100 bills) before I can build on it. $43k is the estimate. Just a touch more than I've got tucked in my shoe. Shipping container you say?by Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I very rarely comment, so y'all aren't likely to recognize me. Long time follower, basic hobbyist who has admired and been inspired by Gary's projects over the years. I came for the airguns, and pop in and out less frequently now. Not a complaint... life and interests and capabilities march on, and I get that. The challenges shared by Gary and others here have not gone unnoticed, and I say a liby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Oh Pedro, I'm so sorry to read this. I pray for God to give you and your wife the physical and mental strength you will need as you navigate this time, and ask that He give the doctors wisdom and direction as they care for your wife. Most of all I pray for a miracle. God bless you both. Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hold the phone! Round things on a lathe always warm the heart. Following with great interest. Be well, Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Wow! Loving the brass!by Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Long time troll here Gary. Been gone for a while but it's nice to be back, especially when one of the first things I see is a pic of pistols. I remember following most of those builds with great interest. Art, plain and simple, and wonderful art at that. I'm not much of a knife guy so I guess that's why I've faded from regular stalking to occasional trolling these days. Maybe it's wintertime andby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Ah, properly placed credit. I like that. We are all gifted differently, and it's the greatest joy possible in life when one finds a means to utilize his/her gifting in a way that brings enjoyment to others also. Glad to hear the piece has found a home! Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well now you're just showing off! Stop it, just stop it. You know, I like to think I build some pretty trick stuff once in a while but now, well, just stop it! p.s. keep the pics coming please. Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
And there ya go... I remember seeing those stock carving pics, but I was puzzled at the time because it didn't look like a "standard" Appaloosa stock. A hybrid, let's say. An "Appalooranger" maybe? I like it! I do not, however, remember seeing those engraving pics before. Really remarkable. That is gonna be one fine looking piece of work. Thanks for the update Gary. Funny... I was looking at the picture before reading what you had written, and I was thinking how terrified I would be to pull the trigger on that welder while hovering above beautifully finished components! One wrong ZAAAP and a couple weeks work goes right out the window! Fortunately, these welds look spot on. Bravo! Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
"Available" that's a beautiful word. Can't help but think you're teasing us here Gary... I've heard of this new .308 but as yet there seems to be little posted about it. Give it up man! Let's see it!! BTW - that's an impressive pile of work there. You must be pleased with the progress. Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Ok I'll jump in... Beautiful, strong look, but not overdone. Bravo! I am with Tom on the trigger guard. I don't yet see how it'll tie in, but I'll wait it out. Did notice the new look to the layout, especially on the foregrip. I think I like it, and look forward to seeing it in relief. I want it. Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That's awesome; I use the same "high-tech" procedures as Gary Barnes! One primitive step further though... I have no mill so I use an Atlas milling attachment to jig stuff up on my lathe. Takes about an hour to make any one five minute cut. And accuracy? Oh ya I've got accuracy! Give or take 5 or 10 thou'. The gun looks like a winner Gary. Can't wait to see it in full dress. Scottby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
"...Nothing serious." !?! What was it... 15+ hours of work or so? I think of this little pocket toothpick holder I made on my antique Sears Atlas lathe. Cute little thing, aluminum, knurled stopper with an o-ring seal. A friend sees it and says "Hey why don't you make one of those for me when you get a minute?" Uh, ya, well, I've got about five hours into this one so as soon as I get a minby Scott Meyers - Gary's Gun Room

Ah! So you'll build me that Chaparral .25 I've wanted for years now? Juuuust kidding. Maybe. I haven't posted in forever, but I still find that when I'm craving some quality chat and information it's the Rendezvous I come to every time. Thank you everyone! Gary, I just wanted to take a moment to say "Bravo"! and "Congratulations"! I get it. I really do. As a small business owner myself I know exactly how it feels to get up day in and day out feeling like you're under the gun (no pun intended) and that you've got to "make it all happen" again. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do or I wouldn't do it and I'm sure you feel the same. But boyby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
So.... I'm following the forums and I see the same people with the same Barnes guns posting pics and videos and such, but where's the rest of them? Do folks wait years to get one of these things just to stuff it in a closet somewhere and forget about it? I've always had it in for the Chaparral... where are they? Who's got them? Don't you shoot it? I hereby promise that if one of you woulby Scott Meyers - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Now THAT is pretty cool. I notice that you wisely clipped the first video just before Timmy got to finish his sentence. To be honest, I watched it first with the sound muted, so I chuckled when I switched the sound on and discovered that Timmy and I had exclaimed the exact same thing after watching that shot! You don't need to worry about me Jerry! I very seldom shoot anymore, I missed the opportunity to order from Gary, and I've got other hobbies going that take up most of my spare time and effort these days. I come here and to the Daily Briefing to relax, read about and look at true art, and to just escape for awhile.
