Could be. I'm not quite ready to commit THAT much effort!by Jerry - Video Library
Dan, I've actually got one of those cheap little espresso machines. I am sooo taking it on the next trip! I just have to have a picture of Gary and Jim sipping espresso out at the shooting field! Thanks for the idea. Sorry, we're still not going to show the trophy room...by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Oh Dan, while timing is everything... I can't see improving your odds of a ledger spot by suggesting Gary's rifles need chrome squirrel heads for "bling!"by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Dan, Every now and then the high speed camera actually provides more than a bit of entertainment. In this video the gun is set at pretty high power as you can see from the trajectory of the 94gr Bishop that is being shot. The recoil is enough to get that big shade tube flopping around and to bounce the bi-pod around. This information will lead me to try different holds for high power shootingby Jerry - Video Library
Gary, you didn't post a picture of the trailer trophy room did you!!??by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That is some clever engineering there with the light fixture cut out!by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
And that inverter also powered the 110 volt light that allowed us to get all our stuff ready for the transit home! When you see the light you'll realize what masters of design we are! Do you have a 110 volt hot dog cooker? We're good for coffee but we really need some hot food...by Jerry - Video Library
Hi Kent, I actually like the fact that I've got a way to delay the shot spreading out and I now have visual proof that the method works. I wouldn't be using it in the scenario you describe of course. But the lower power of the Woodsman vs. the Justice can be slightly offset by using the "choke." Especially since I never see any critter I want to shoot inside 20 yards! Unless he's wood....by Jerry - Video Library

Neil, I would think the quickest way to test the tube warping theory is to fill to the same PSI you used for the first shot in the original post, fire a shot and then refill to the same pressure. If the next shot falls close to the first then you probably don't have a scope problem. I'd refill again and take a third shot and if it also fell along the same elevation as the first two from theby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Neil, Looks like we have a science project here. Since the slugs are consistent and you fired them over a chrony which proves they were fired consistently, they should have followed consistent paths to nearly the same spot given no huge changes in wind (like a 30 mph down draft for the first shot). Since you suspected POA and verified it to be correct on the third shot we can rule out POAby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary and I had a bit of a redneck Saturday. Gary had just finished painting the war wagon interior and after a fine breakfast courtesy of the lovely Kelly (thank you!) we installed some shelving and did some set-up so we would have all we could need while at the range. First we went mud bogging to get to the muddy field, then we did us some shootin' and then we 4 wheeled through the mud to getby Jerry - Video Library
We did a lot of shooting and movie making yesterday. Late in the afternoon I decided to take a 1000 Frame/sec movie of Gary firing the Prairie 3 out of the war wagon. I had to digitally brighten the movie to make it useable as we had really run out of light by the time I thought of this. The movie isn't very dramatic but it does show something I had not expected. Check out the scope shade.by Jerry - Video Library
Spot on Cedric! I think most folks that lurk and don't comment appreciate the posts but don't appreciate that a little feedback would go a long way. I just got back from shooting with Gary and I've got enough info for several posts. I just edited the pictures and a bunch of videos. Most of the stuff is just fun but I think I might have spotted something in one of the high speed videos that wiby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Paul, I'm still noodling around what might be causing the low velocity issue. When we chrono tested these slugs out of one of Gary's guns which was attached to a regulator for the test, here's what we got: Diana Magnum, 20gr, 1289 FPS, 73.8 FPE Kodiak, 30.7gr, 1144 FPS, 89.2 FPE Crow Magnum, 26.2gr, 1203 FPS, 84.2 FPE Barnes 6 ring, 57.6gr, 922.1 FPS, 108.8 FPE (22% higher than the Kby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gunker, Go ahead and start a new topic about starter guns. I'm sure some guys here will chime in!by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
A thought just occured to me (please no don't be scared, it happens from time to time)... How long is your barrel? I have had one other instance where a short barrel would not build up the velocity for the heavy slugs yet would still get the light Kodiaks up in the 50 FPE range.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I really don't understand the velocity / energy issue here. I suppose there could be some impact from the size for the Poly barrel but my gut tells me that alone isn't the problem. If your barrel has a deeper choke, a bigger slug would likely not help... The guy who reported using the coin as a thumb protector was also loading a 9 ring slug which is considerably longer.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Paul, As I pick myself up I can't but wonder if the gun is the same as it was before. Is it still shooting Kodiaks at 1100? Something sounds off here. I don't know that anyone else with a LW polygonal barrel has tried these but the power numbers you're getting are a first. Even if .252 is .001 too big, the numbers just aren't right.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Boy, talk about a hijacked thread! If I had a bass and some skills, I might have enough money to go visit Cedric and do some shooting!by Jerry - Video Library
I can't remember if they were the 102gr slugs or the 93gr slugs. I remember them being a couple thousanths smaller than I wanted. If you have a picture I might be able to identify them. The weight is usually on the bag.by Jerry - The Picture Gallery
It was hard to tell if any of the bird shot would have been lethal on its own. I had to get back to work so no extensive examination was conducted. Natures own disposal service came by at some point and took away the remains. Good luck with the monster squirrel. If you decide you'd rather just shoot a cat...I'll mail you one!by Jerry - The Hunting Camp
Yeah, PJ and CJ have split on the "fund" idea. PJ continues to save towards the car. This is not an outcome I did not anticipate...by Jerry - Video Library
Ha! Yes, you got it! I've been waiting for months to have a squirrel show up inside 30-35 yards from the back door so I could shoot it to test the shotgun loads. There is absolutely no shortage of the critters around here (as evidenced by the long season (in season now) and no bag limit). The problem has been one of geometry only. I don't have the time to wander the woods hunting during theby Jerry - The Hunting Camp
Ha Ha! I thought that might get a reaction. Do cameras work in Montana? They sure do in New Zealand and Neil has sent in some pictures of hunting grounds I would love to just stand in and admire!by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks for sharing Dan. I learned something there (and not just to not cut the barrel off any of my springers! ). I've seen one of those hot boxes somewhere with the light bulbs in it... Looked like a good idea to me! The product that came out has been well recieved round these parts! I really need to start a project. I've got a DS .50 that I never shoot anymore. It has a cracked stockby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Excellent! I know at least three of us will be shooting this weekend!by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Oh, I don't believe the fact that I'm getting grief for going with good glass after trying cheap glass... TWICE! The cheap stuff just didn't perform in the shooting environment I'm in. Of course the cheap stuff worked as good as or much better than that rip-off Leopuld someone got stuck with! There's a skill factor involved too. I might get close to Garys' groups at 50 yards using a 4 powby Jerry - Video Library
I hope those orange slugs work perfectly but I think they might be a tiny touch too small. Oh well, we'll find out when you get out and drain a tank of air through the new toy. I'm sure the weekend can't get here fast enough now that the gun is ready!by Jerry - The Picture Gallery
I'm sorry Neil, cat like grace can only be demonstrated in video and I am way too modest to film my best moves! Let's just say that I was moving very slowy and deliberately as I tried to get into position. Having finally had a target appear within range and while I was able to shoot was an opportunity I didn't want to blow because of clumsy motions. After all, since I managed to get the gunby Jerry - The Hunting Camp
