Indeed. We need to encourage guys like Cedric to share his projects and outings and I'm pretty sure we all want to see more pictures from Neil as he hunts in God's country!by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
You can't argue with success can you? I've got pretty cheap glass on all my guns except the Prairie III and the Woodsman. The Woodsman came with a nice Bushnell from ...... Gary! That scope does a great job and has been used for a bunch of sub-moa groups. It is also nicely fitted to the gun with a custom scope mount and I can't see any reason to change it. I once planned on replacing it becaby Jerry - Video Library

Really nice work there Cedric! I think the gun came out great. Thanks for posting the whole project for us to enjoy. It is nice to see someone having fun in the hobby and producing something they can take pride in when they go shooting. I'm looking forward to the results of her first outing!by Jerry - The Picture Gallery
Yup. And one day I'm going to move up to a coon skin cap!by Jerry - The Hunting Camp
I suppose some of you may have been wondering if the air shotgun was effective against squirrels. I think I've reported before that the shells do work well against pest birds but I had not tried them against squirrels yet. Today I had an unexpected opportunity arise and I managed to get the gun filled and loaded in time to verify the effectiveness of a mixed .25 ball and bird shot load againstby Jerry - The Hunting Camp
Hi Neil, That picture and the post you wrote about the scope tape is exactly what I was referring to. I don't know if its a happy accident or if the pellets' drag function really is close to linear but you've have some great results with the Chairgun derived scope tapes.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
What!!?? You'll never hit anything if you don't shoot at least 950FPS! Oh, wait...never mind... Sorry, just had to toss in a little expertise I got for free on the web! I'm very happy you got the fox on this trip. I was SOOO.. fearing a "saw a bobcat while I was loading" story or some other such sad tale.by Jerry - The Hunting Camp
Yes Gary, the shock wave theory is not just valid but has been proven for high velocity projectiles. For very fast slugs the dominant drag component is often shock wave formation. If you follow the development of very long range sniper rounds these days, you'll find that the new cartridges coming out and competing for government dollars all stress the smoothness of their bullet shape. Yes, I've been pleasently surprised by the reliability. I've put thousands of rounds through that gun and the only thing I've had to do is change a breech O-ring and keep it oiled. The light weight is kind of surprising at first but welcome. The accuracy is very good as well. I had some fun a while back by shooting a .62 slug into a 4x4, I then put a couple dozen .22 pellets into the base ofby Jerry - Video Library

Jim, You really need to consider Garys' state of mind before posting about antlers...by Jerry - The Hunting Camp
Since those pictures were taken, I've relieved the second layer of foam for the scope bell and windage knob. It is really nice having the depth to be able to have everything padded well. I'm pretty certain that the Leapers scope that was once on the rifle was destroyed because the AO wheel took an impact through the old case. The wheels are nice but the case is not so heavy it can't be toted aby Jerry - The Gear Shack
A fine looking fox. Congratulations.by Jerry - The Hunting Camp
Ever wonder why folks want semi-auto guns when one well placed shot at a time ought to do what needs getting done? Well, shooting semi-auto is just fun! It had been a while since I had the Monsoon out for some shooting so I pulled it out today as I was having so much fun making pointless videos. I thought maybe some of you have heard of this gun from FX and were wondering if its loud or does iby Jerry - Video Library
I got a new tripod the other day so after using it to get chrony data I decided I might as well use it for the camera as well. We had to set-up in the shade for safety reasons but the video still came out useable. The first shot was shooting a 178gr slug from the Prairie III into a row of bottles filled with water. The shot was taken from 40 yards. The slug came to rest in the 6th bottle.by Jerry - Video Library
Is the gun cocked when you're trying to fill it? It might just be the hammer spring holding the valve open.by Jerry - Video Library
Lon, The DS is a single shot breech loader with a side lever that opens the breech and cocks the action. It does not have a magazine like the smaller caliber Careers. BTW, I've got one with a cracked stock that is just begging for some project work... I've got at least three full boxes of Hornady .495 ball waiting to get shot too...by Jerry - Video Library
So, you hardly touched the gun How did you come to decide on .210 for the porting? Is that as big as you could go or is there something that told you that .210 was the right size?by Jerry - The Picture Gallery
SIMMONS! You've made Gary (president of the Simmons fan club) very happy! Of course, he probably thinks anything above a 4x22 shotgun scope is needless luxury...by Jerry - Video Library

Excellent post! The video wasn't playing so I stuck in the copy you sent me and it seems to be working now. Nice shooting! For those that don't know the pictured gun started out as a .50 Career Dragonslayer. Cedric decided the gun needed to be improved and he turned it into a .45 with a little extra power. I'd say that the project turned out very well indeed.by Jerry - Video Library
Thanks for posting Ced. That looks like its going to turn into a real nice gun. I think it is pretty cool when someone takes the hobby beyond just shooting a store bought gun and trying a couple pellets. The best part is that you're going to have a unique gun. I expect it might motivate some folks to try and copy it though. What have you done as far as tuning?by Jerry - The Picture Gallery
Hi Ced, Thanks for the comment. It really wasn't that much work since I had the gun set-up and ready to shoot already. I just had to get the chrony out and put it on my new tripod. I've been going for a long time without a proper tripod and finally picked one up at WalMart. I'm sure it is not much compared to what photographers use now but this tripod has a bunch of features, seems nice anby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jim, I got this case from Deployable Systems Inc.. They are located in Virginia, here's the webpage for the case: . It comes in black, tan or the olive drab I got. The price here was the best I found for this case and the service was excellent.by Jerry - The Gear Shack
That's a pretty cool looking gun Neil. That's a pretty hefty slug you're shooting too. I look forward to reading the stats...by Jerry - The Gear Shack
Since nobody else is shooting anything (except Gary and Kent I hope) I had to shoot something. Actually, I try to shoot something everyday. Even if it is just a target with some plinking rounds, something gets shot just about everyday here. Today, this milk jug bought it. I had Paul make me up some shot shells with a heavy load of .25 ball in them. I set the milk jug out at 25 yards. Theby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
