I have been looking for a new case to carry the Prarie III in. The case I had was too thin to protect the wide scope and a little too flimsy to take the weight of the big bench gun. The new case is certainly not flimsy. It is very sturdy and airline rated. Waterproof too. The little round thing to the right of the handle is a pressure equalizing valve that has a Gortex insert toby Jerry - The Gear Shack
Hi Neil, I've not recieved any other feedback on the Raptors. It is very rare to get any feedback at all much less real data! I'm thankful you did the testing you did. BTW, do you still have the numbers you used back when you tested? If you had the temperature, elevation, barometric pressure and humidity I could run the numbers through the JBM site. I'm suspect of the Chairgun values becausby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Sepeteus, I just edited my post to include the weight of each of the slugs. Jim, If somebody would let me borrow their .45 I might try to do that comparison! What did you use to figure the BC for your slugs?by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yes Roose, I see your point; Gary could build such a gun and it would be a fine piece. But the point about rich people and ferraris seems off to me. Ferraris are not modest performing cars. They are exceptionally high performing cars and that is what sets them apart from economy cars designed just to get one from point a to point b. I suppose someone could build a super high quality car thatby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I gathered some data today and ran it through an online ballistics calculator. I used this site for the BC calculations: . 1/25/09 BC testing Patuxent River 28.7 °F 56% 30.35 in (Steady) Partly Cloudy ESE at 2.0 mph 11:51 AM EST Elevation 105 feet, all shots taken with Prairie III regulated at 3250 PSI .32 Bishops 94gr 3 yards; 755.3 FPS 42 yards; 661.4 FPS JBM Ballby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
So. Who's going to put up the cash? I'm pretty sure Gary won't be making any muzzle loading BB guns on spec! I can't see making a hand crafted one-off custom airgun to a specification lower than what anyone can buy for $50 at WalMart.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
And others use a lever firing mechanism that doesn't need a super strong spring so the cocking effort is light. Even on high power the Prairie 3 is easy to cock, on low power it's easier than Timmy's Discovery...by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Nice post Gary. I downloaded Chairgun and ran the numbers.... .0470! Edit: The above was with all shots included. If I toss out the high and low value from both data sets, the BC comes in at .049. We so need to get numbers for the 7 ring now...by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That's right! I need to do a little comparison work anyhow, might as well add one more quality scope to the mix!by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Hey Jim, don't let Gary get you down on those fancy scopes. Pretty soon we'll learn how to shoot like he does and then the scope advantage will kick in! We just need to develop some talent. As soon as we learn to shoot well, he'll be begging for a decent scope to keep pace! I'm certain that huge 72mm objective scope gathers light like nobodys' business but I've got to say that I'm delightby Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Hi Jim, I wish we had some more time to help Gary "test" this .25. I was hoping to get some BC data on the .25 slugs and maybe some more groups too. Sadly (for me), this gun will be off to its waiting owner very soon never to be heard from again....by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Yes Neil; you are seriously delinquent in shooting and posting .454 groups!by Jerry - The Target Trophy Lodge
A .50 BMG cartridge at 100 yards and all they can get is 4" groups? That is serious bad. I'm wondering when you might even use a .50 at that close a range tactically; maybe an ambush scenario. The SEALs and some other units use the .50 BMG for long range sniping on radars and vehicles and occasionally on personnel. I can't imagine the Barret they use shoots as bad as that European version, atby Jerry - The Target Trophy Lodge
Great shooting Neil! Your 1/2 MOA group has been added to the favorites. 1/2 MOA at 100 yards with an airgun. That's some shootin' right there son!by Jerry - The Target Trophy Lodge
The Rendezvous .25 Magnum is an awesome gun. It is very light even after putting on a full size scope. The power it can get to is pretty amazing too. 148 FPE from a .25? Ya just don't see THAT everyday. Given my experience with the Maverick that has a similar size butt reservoir, I'll bet the Rendezvous can tune down to give a good twenty shots with light slugs or pellets. The range ofby Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Paul, we've already concluded you like them so much you consider them a part of the estate too dear to part with...by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Sepeteus, We'd be very interested in the airgun scene in Finland! I sometimes consider the entire European continent as a whole when I think of airgun laws and activities. I know that each country has it's own laws and regulations but so many are so restrictive that I lump them all together because I never hear anything different. Please let us know what you shoot and how the mods are cby Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Now Dan, you just couldn't let that go?by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The red coating looks cool and provides a thin barrier between the lead and your fingers. It is not boiled on. We were commenting that the color stayed on despite the lead appearing to have boiled as it was deformed during impact.by Jerry - Video Library
Call the prop department. I need a dummy sitting at a table holding a phone to his ear...by Jerry - Video Library
Looking good! That gun is getting lighter all the time.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Roose, I'm wondering why you think the .32 would require only head shots on squirrels? I'm going to guess that it is because any other shot would destroy so much meat that it would not be worth cooking the remains...by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Keith, Those scope mounts are pretty pedestrian in they are the ones I sent Gary. I owed him some extra high mounts for the ones I stole when I took delivery of the Prairie. The ones in the pictures above are just some other mounts I tossed in to keep him from whining about never having the right mounts. I think those are Leapers high mounts but I'm not sure anymore...by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
Lon, So sorry to hear of the all day project. I've done those and it just stinks! Since I'm unable to do anything to the waste products that helped themselves to your laptop, and I'm no help with the current challenge...I went out and shot that computer again just to keep the faith. It is turning out to be a lot more fun to shoot a computer than to use one!by Jerry - Video Library
Rotorhead, I've heard about the shotgun report on "rifling" but I've never been able to find it, do you know where it can be found? I'm not planning on doing anything to the bore of my Woodsman though. Last time out it was hitting those critters at 70 yards just fine!by Jerry - Gary's Galleries
That one had hardware issues. Now it is issue free.by Jerry - Video Library
I shot a computer. Given the love/hate relationship many of us have with these devices, I thought you might enjoy some pictures. The three holes across the top are from 545gr slugs. The lower shots are .32s. If you look close you can see a bunch of little pits from #5 shot fired from 40 yards. That's a .62 slug going into the "info" window that used to tell me pointless stuff about tby Jerry - Video Library
Keith, We have not been able to make the Bishops you ordered yet as the mold was the backside of another mold that Gary needed to keep on hand. Lucky for you eh? We'll get you the new Bishops as soon as we can.by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Oh, I get it now. I've seen those mounts but I'm going to pass. Maybe someone else with a .62 will pick up that ball and run with it though?by Jerry - Video Library
Hi Guys, I just want to put out another pitch for you to post your experiences. I know I can't be the only one shooting old bed linens in the backyard this winter! Seriously, we don't care what you're shooting so long as it's an airgun and it's legal (somewhere) ! Remember, if you have some pictures to post, you don't need to link to another site. If you can size the pictures down to 100by Jerry - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
