I want a dynamite gun, like they used to use in the early days of the Coastal Defence Artillery. Nothing like a hundred-pound charge of dynamite out of a 12 inch bore to add excitement to your day! Hey, if you're gonna dream, dream BIG!by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I know the feeling. Just spent a week in the Kingdom of the Evil Mouse...AKA Disneyland. A wholly artificial environment, well-lubricated and highly tuned towards it's sole purpose, which is to separate you from all of your disposable income while forcing you to smile the whole time. At least the weather was good, low 70's and partly cloudy. Can't stand too much of that hot and sunny stuff forby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I like the line about "fresh rabbits". We've all gotten so used to the consumer model where everything has to be "new" and "improved" all the time just to be considered worth buying. Last minutes model is pure junk, it HAS to be the latest, greatest, mostest and bestest...or so they keep telling us. From the big ticket items like new cars all the way on down the product chain to chewing gum and tby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'll officically kick off the 'betting pool' on the configuration of the first 'black diamond' project. - >/= ninety-nine caliber, lets call it at least a one-inch bore - at least one usable shot per air charge - weight. man portable - barrel length, short enough to fit the guncase in a short-bed pickup - FPE, in the four-digit range - accuracy, minute-of-gopher - scope, Simmons 4x shby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Gary, I'm not sure what plastic they use for the political signs but it feels slick to the touch, almost greasy (coincidence? I think not) I'm guessing some sort of polyethelene, but I don't know for sure.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Don't worry Gary, I'm sure you misheard them. They probably meant something like 2 5 inch. Heck, that's barely past two feet long, and you're a big guy, right? You'd think that with all the demand somebody would have come up with come aftermarket bushings for those disc things, wouldn't you? I mean, with any O-ring-style bushing you're gonna get some wear-and-tear issues, and the human spineby rotorhead - I'm just sayin'
Let's hope that Garys Bison parallel the American Bison experience. There used to be huge herds of them wandering around the continent, but nowadays...not so much. Nobody want's them to become totally extinct, but most people are fine without having a three-day-long herd of them crossing the street in front of us.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yup, you'd better get that gopher off the cigarettes. Those things are gonna kill him some day.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I like steel cans ("tin" cans) since they hold up so much better than aluminum beer and soda cans do. You can fill them full of holes and they'll still be intact and shootable long after a pop can is reduced to tattered whisps. If it's a range where shotguns are used, you can often find intact claybirds that were missed or just nicked and didn't break. I've found that perhaps the best target backby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The vapor cloud is pretty easy to explain, it's because the sudden expansion of the air charge cools the air immediately adjacent the muzzle to a temperature below it's dewpoint. For a split second the conditions are just right to form a cloud, but since the volume of air released is so small compared to the atmosphere as a whole it almost instantly mixes and dilutes, warming up and reverting bacby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Here's another possible option. As I understand it, the Leatherwood ART scope system has an externally adjusted holdover based on a cam mounted to the magnification ring. In theory, you just frame an item of known size with the reticle and it's supposed to automatically adjust the holdover. I have no idea what one of these costs, but it's a pretty nifty concept.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Let's hope that the next doc can avoid using terms such as "roadkill" when describing your spine. Hey, those doctor guys spend years and years in school, they're SUPPOSED to know all the five-dollar words.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

While it's not precisely airgun related, I did recently get a link from a friend of mine about a shooting misadventure/learning experience. A very good reminder for those out there who load their own ammunition.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Pretty nifty setup there, what a bonus to be able to shoot right from home! Thanks for posting it.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Oh c'mon Gary, you know there's no bucket. It's just that the very moment you get snuggled up in your fleecy blanket, comfortably esconced in your cozy chair in front of the roaring fire with a nice mug of Irish coffee...that's when you'll feel the first drip of cold water, probably right down the back of your neck. From the leaky roof of course, which will then need fixing. And when you're up thby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm glad to see that lightweight, handy carbines haven't gone out of style over the years. I noticed the cherry stock in the advert, how do you like it compared to walnut and mahogany for stock work?by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
If Gary ever figures out how to make a PCP run on hay, it'll be one for the record books alright. ; )by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I've been working on rebuilding an old boat trailer to fit my boat. Finding a used boat trailer in decent condition is rare around here, since they typically rust out faster than the boats they carry. Sure, I could just pay another $2k for a brand new one, plus another $500 for shipping, and then STILL spend a whole weekend putting it together before it would work....but...I've got plans for thatby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Yeah, the apprenticeship thing has sorta faded from view in the modern era. For some reason, capable, intelligent, trainable young airgun-machinist-apprentice-types just won't work for the occasional bowl of thin gruel and a cold cell up in the rafters of the shop anymore. That's the problem these days; all those potential apprentice types have been spoiled by modern luxuries like eating every dby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pretty cool stuff, thanks for posting it. I particularly like the way the blocks wiggle back and forth in slo-mo when they're hit, it's a shame that the camera frame rate isn't about ten times faster. But...considering the price point it's still an amazing feature in a consumer electronics item. I suppose that you could do one of those 1X6 lumber or plywood "baffle boxes" to get an idea of howby rotorhead - Video Library
Hmmm, and here I thought you were on the same pension plan that I am, the "work till you croak" program. When you think about it the right way it turns out that I'm way ahead of the curve for a change. With the meltdown of the stock market and the mutual funds, a LOT more folks have joined me on the "WTYC" retirement plan.by rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Whils't stumbling about an unsuccessful google search on glasses-mounted adjustable apertures for target shooting (I just KNOW I've seen them somewhere) I found this article on aperture or "peep" sights. I'm with you on the eyesight issue. I've always had better than 20/20 vision until about a year ago, now...I'm not so sure. I'm noticing that binoculars are getting more and more fussy about focusing, and my books seem to need a bit more "personal space" than they used to. If this keeps up, I'm gonna have to get longer arms to read the fine print. BTW, for open sights I've seen some of the taby rotorhead - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
