Now Gary, Rotor and I are not going to discuss any fish that's not smoked! You may think that's not very PC but we just don't get the opportunity to talk a good smokin' story. And Rotor thanks for some new ideas for the next time I fire up the smoker. I'll be sure to take some pics with a Barnes propped against the smoker door, for Garys sake. Don't tell Julio you can't shim that style of ring or he'll take apart the Caribou rings and never get it on at 50yds. I shimmed his Werne split rings with a ribbon of AL from a can. Worked great. Now you can tell me how I ruined the scope, just don't tell him. I did a little scope rigging on my own gun as well. With the next round I'll be shooting the Rendezvous 25 (sexiest airgun ever madeby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
What Gary, that fancy scope is to nice to shim to get it sighted in at 10 yd? Or don't you have an old aluminum coke can around that shop? And now we've broken out the caliper to score the target? I may have to borrow "Bubba's" caliper, but I think that might short me a couple of thousands, IIRC. To tell the truth, I contact cemented my targets to card stock as well. But I didn't find tby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Boy that sounds good! I may have to adjust a little as Sams fillets don't have a skin side. Question for you rotor, what's the outside temp when you air dry the fillets? I'll bet its very dry there, here humidity is very high year round but adjustments can be made. Do you know the smoker temp? Is it a cold smoke? Thanks for the secrets.by Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Rotor, Like to smoke a little myself. Do tell what kind of brine are you soaking them in before the smoker. Here's my secret recipe. Salmon fillet from, who else, Sams Club, thaw, sprinkle top and bottom with a mixture of 1/3 Lowry's 1/3 Tony Chatcherres Cajun spice 1/3 Rosemary Garlic spice (from Sams) add a couple of Tbs of dry crab boil to the quart size shaker if desired. thby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, I found some of that .350 ball in with my .320 ball, barely got it stuffed into the barrel, but with a rubber hammer and by thegrace of God I got it done. That target had the first 27 holes so I took a pic. That's some idea to use a whole new target, you sure do hate them trees! I guess once you mastered that "Custom resize" you couldn't help yourself but make a dozen copies. Noby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I wouldn't think of just posting just a score!!! Now I am going to wait until Friday to start posting my targets for this "deal". That's also when the new dealer lets us know what the new game is. Have we determined who's playing and who's next dealer? I will post my setup for the shoot now. This is my new target holder. Gary had suggested I buy these real estate signs, if I remember cby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, I clicked on target, then print preview, then gear (page setup) and got rid of header and footer text...then made all margins 0....it resized it to a small decimal .13 etc..OK....then resize at the shrink to fit pull down with a click on CUSTOM and then 115%...Then mine requires that I print page 2...looks like it should work on the preview. rotorhead, I heard Palin quit because she was becoming a distraction. Hope she didn't leave you all in too much of a lerch. I like the idea of a duct seal challenge. I think for the cost of shipping the beast everyone could get their own duct seal to mold and shoot. Here it is at 1.33/lb I also think the critter would take a beating going to and fro between shooters and arrive deformedby Cajun Justice - I'm just sayin'
Hi rotorhead, Let me get this straight, a Ruskie pistol, going metric, and siding with Carter. Next you'll tell me you passed on a moose hunt with Palin!!! Now back to the topic of pistol. I have a couple of pistols here but they are all topped with glass and are not specifically suited to one hand holds. I plan to shoot several guns durng these matches. I would be happy to shoot pistol formby Cajun Justice - I'm just sayin'
Hi Guys, Looks like we're off and shooting. There is one change that I thought I made to the post. Some how my edits are not "Sticking" to the final product. This particular change is The posting of targets will stop 1 wk after the ONE week shooting period. This means that the deal will change weekly, with posting of targets and shooting the next dealers target/rules the following weby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi JoeBill, I set the range as 10 yds as I believe for some that was their max indoor distance. OK, they actually said 10 m but Jimmy Carter was the last American to support the metric system and I don't want to be seen as supporting him! Kentby Cajun Justice - I'm just sayin'
Nice diagram Dan! I like the concept for some miniture knockdowns. My only concern is that by the time I get it made, to be able to compete, cabin fever might kill Gary. Everyone, there are a couple of dozen targets at the same site above. Should be something for everyone to enjoy. I Googled airgun target and there are several sites. How about this guys, looks like we have about 4-6 participants. Lets rotate the "dealer" if you will and have it dealers choice. We'll have a one week shooting period for each target and rules. Then we can post our targets as the next dealers target and rules run for the following week. The dealer needs to let us know where to find the target and a standard dimension to use on the target. Great to see you get out and do some shooting. I can't believe you were having scope issues, never seen that before. Looks like there are a few guns there that can join in the competition. Now that gopher died the death of a thousand cuts and then gets shot, you must have a deep seated problem with rodents. Problem is you made him out of the tough stuff. "I'm your huckleberry" Best line in the movie... I've got 22, 25 and 32 that should be up to the task. I'll even stuff Ballistic Bear back in the electrical box to make the silent pellet trap. Not going to let that crosswind become an advantage for y'all, I'll shoot indoors too. Now who can post the target choices? Sounds like the distance is 12 yd or less, Do we want to set a recurringby Cajun Justice - I'm just sayin'
Nice shooting Joebill. Nothing wrong with those groups. That 62 sure chops some wood. Seeing that slug inbedded reminds me, here's a fun little number to try. If you can see that slug from the bench. When you have your 32 all zoned in shoot a second 32 slug Robin Hood style into the base of the 62. The 22 lookd awsome!!! It sure is different feeling shooing some real horsepower to go baby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I was able to get one good chrony number for what I believe is at least near the max spec for this gun. Why only one figure? Because my chrony is getting blown over by the muzzle blast. My old tripod just isn't up to the task. Anyway, 46 cal 303 grn slug at 837 fps for 471 ft/lbs and a TKO of 16 with a fill pressure of 3100 PSI The sight picture works out that when sited in at 50ydsby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Gary, That will be a big help. Now Jerry don't go making a zillion slugs, I've got some alternatives to try. I've got to get the Caribou tweeked for Julio and ship it this week to him. I'm going to put a few slugs thru the chrony and finalize some scope setting for him. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The work you've accomplished looks great. Hope the rest goes quickly! I know we could all get twice the honey dews done if we just had a Lowe's runner and of course could tell them exactly what we needed by part number. I spend a lot of time just staring at the shelves looking for the right hardware for the job. Thanks Gary. I had to go longer than my $99 Pentax. This Nikon fit the bill. It's the sister to the one on the Caribou, just a different reticle. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
HI Jerry, Oh, I've got it covered with a veritible RAINBOWof 465 slugs that Surefire sent a little while back. I've got to watch the kids 'cause they keep wanting to eat them! Doug, did you just not recognize your Barnes? If so, we may have to intervene and place it in foster care, as you need to get it out of the closet it's locked in! It's just not humane treatment! Joe, you're doing some fine work with the knives. Is it's nice to see hand craftsmanship. Can you picture the piece before it's finished, or does the beauty jump out at the end? Thanks for sharing your work. Kentby Cajun Justice - The Picture Gallery
That looks like a load of fun! Bet the guns tuned to shoot the wings off a nat! That compressor sure looks a lot more portable than my does even though I don't see any handles on yours. Is that gas or electric powered and what brand? Kentby Cajun Justice - The Picture Gallery
That's a great group!! Have you found a slug that the gun likes as well as the RB? Gary has made some great 32 cal barrels that like the #3 buckshot as shown with the Victory class guns. The ball is true .32 in and likes a .316 sized slug. I tried some pistol bullets by Hornady that were .314 and just too undersized for the gun. I wouldn't ask Gary to do anything he's not capable of. So far he's never disappointed. I bet by now he considers me the "MOTHER" of his invention.
