I better start having Gary crate up my guns and ship them to me rather than deliver them via plane in a gun case! I still have all those plastic gun cases, do you think they are now worth a grand? On my Yukon, could you spell Barnes without the "e"? I think that kind of "mistake" would make it really rare, like a mis-stamped penny, it could be worth zillions! Nice test! What happened to the phone books? Did the bullet part the fibers or ball it up in front of the slugs? How about this for the next test? Take your beef scraps out to the woods...and see what shows up for testing. Any critters close by that need a little ventilation? We'll be watching the hunting posts. Here's one to bang your head on the wall. The plastic stocked Remington Nylon 66 is now a collectable with only a little over a million made between 1959-89. The rarest is the bicentenial model with just over 10 thousand made. It now is valued at $1000 in mint condition. Checked on auction and sure enough an altered (less valuable) one went for $630!! The standard models were priced 49.99 nby Cajun Justice - Gary's Galleries
Thanks guys, I am really enjoying the Grizzly, but not for the next two days as tropical storm Ida drenches us. The weather matches my cold and the lack of daylight! Usually the weather is great following one of these storms so by Weds there should be good camera conditions if daylight savings time gets me home in the daylight? Just whose daylight are we saving anyway? Thanks Gary for theby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm with Lon, that's a great group with some big lead. I suspect that as you find the sweet spot for the gun these will come a lot more frequently. All it will take is lots more lead down range to become consistant and find what works. As Gary has noted for these large bores the contact points become critical in how the gun recoils and therefore where the lead goes. The worst thing for most oby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I was discussing this two shot issue with Julio. I reported to him that on more than one occasion, a airgun shot did not spook other animals in the immediate area. Indeed these were large bore, 45 and greater, unshrouded guns. These were also animals that everyone states are "spooky", and flee at the slightest sound. I have personally witnessed deer, and fox continue their activities. Includiby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
JoeBill You seem to have picked up a hobby, casting slugs, and even shooting them too. Someone going to accuse you of actually using a Barnes. Don't you know those are too nice to take out of the vault? Seriously, I've seen the 62s you're casting and you must be doing something right to get those results! Keep up the good work, Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jerry, my reference was to JFK being overdone on the Zapruder (sp) films. Please don't stop your original clips of airgun destruction!!! I'm a one man show most days. Makes for very few "in the action" shots. I do need to get me a dedicated camera for the range/my pocket so I can get more posting material. I love your slow mo camera. It's on my wish list for Christmas, we'll see! Kby Cajun Justice - Video Library
As promised some pics of the Grizzly with its scope mounted. And a close up of The Griz Gary had made the Grizzly with a single maximum shot, and as such it was a magnificent beast. If I remember correctly, it was in the neighborhood of 750ft/lb, and back calculating, 770 fps with the 566 grain slug. Some shooting that Julio and I did showed an attemped second shot would cause the hamby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Joebill, that slug is sure chopping some wood!! I really like the looks of the Woodsman. Be sure to send the Simmons back to Gary, but what do you have planned scope-wise? Thanks for sharing, Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jerry, that bullet sure looks pretty! Amazing the difference in barrel preferences. Guess you'll have to stick to one of those misshapen creations the Woodsman likes so well. Just don't show anyone what you're shooting cause "those will never work" so you might as well turn them all backwards. Who woulda thunk that the can would launch back toward you? Are you filming this from Dallas? If yby Cajun Justice - Video Library
Griffin, this gun is a blast to shoot! Kelli, my wife, and I shot our 20 station woods walk rotating between the Hoss 45, Victory 32 and Rendezvous 25. The targets are steel reactive on rebar hangers from 30 - 75 yards. Kelli only missed a few and I shot clean including the two longest shots with the Hoss. Gary developed an accurate hold for these pistols shown here. This is Bob with his Vicby Cajun Justice - Gary's Galleries
M. Rabbit, it's refreshing to have someone with their priorities straight. Buy a good piece of land and you'll never go wrong. An investment in one of Gary's guns you won't regret either. Is the pool above or in-ground? For me and mine, the swimming pool is a couple of loads of sand in the shallow end of the pond. Most people down here worry about the poisonous water mocassin snakes, but we'veby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yes, 14 lbs would be excellent. The Grizzly is 13# with the scope and 14# with it's slug in the barrel.. Now I have to shoot with their air so no helium to help either. So that leaves drilling all those wgt reduction holes in the stock, barrel band, and trigger guard/grip as well as fluting the barrel and reservoir tube. Sounds like I'll have me an Asian "tuner" after all. Guess I'll have toby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I agree with Mad Rabbit, those slugs are really opening up. Those expand like the hollow based wad cutters I tried backwards in my wife's Victory 32. Problem was they were 314 and the gun needed 316 at least to group well. Nice to see that wasn't a problem for you! Great shooting! The 87 cal (7ga) doesn't show any expansion unless you are shooting at steel, then it's in the 1 1/2 in range. Oby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Y'all, Kenneth, I know I've paid to much for an airgun. If that's all I thought commisioning Gary to craft a functional work of art got me I'd just keep throwing different slugs into a over pressured, bored out, relubed, respringed Asian "tuner" until I found one that stayed on the paper. Of course I would close my eyes tightly as I pulled the trigger and keep my health insurance paid up. Bby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I just don't get it Lon, unlike you, they have not even been shot with a riqochette by me. And yet you think they might be annoyed by my presence? It would be good to be able to compete without actually running the event at the same time, but if you think it would end up like a Caddy Shack golf challenge my presence may not be enjoyable for anyone. One second thought, who do you think I wouldby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Recent disscussions about events for niche hobbies prompted me to look for airgun related events. Here's one that seems to have attracted about a dozen participants. Has anyone considered attending this one day event for some bragging rights. Looks like they've got three targets to shoot at and the rules give you two shots at each target at the five different ranges for a total of 30 shots on tby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Of getting stuck with needles, rechimney-ing a furnace or talking with BA...BA...BARRISTERS, I'd take the first two everyday and twice on Sunday!! Hope none of it is to painful and all goes quickly. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I would try one of the scope pens. They seem to clean well, but kind of pricey. You could try the old SCUBA trick of spittng on the lens and rubbing it in, naw don't try that one. Seriously, I suspect you know someone, who knows someone, who works in an OR. Have them save you some FRED. It is a liquid that the endoscopes' lenses are dabbed on before being stuck everywhere and anywhere to keeby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Don't look it up Jerry, I bet I spelled it wrong! 18X, I might just be able to keep up. Now I'm going to rat out Gary. He was bragging on your big glass on the P-II. It must be exotic, he couldn't come up with the brand, do tell! Is it really 60X. Do you get nauseated when you zoom it fast? Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, I think you've found the detail that was missing all along, an $8000 purse!!! Actually that was probably only first place. Overall monies must have been closer to 12-15 grand! I'd bet if one had the right left connections, we could find some stimulus money from an ACORN grant. We could just swing by on the way from the airport, the home office is in New Orleans. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice change over Jerry! In the past I've been reluctant to install the barrel on the C. Justice for fear of messing up my only "deer" gun before the season. I don't have that excuse any more so lets see if I can come close to your accuracy with the 45 barrel. It will take me a little longer to set this up than you. I'm not a facile with the O rings as you are. It will be interesting to see iby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jerry i could use a gross of these, but i'll have to lop off about four in of compensator so i can muzzle load kell's victory. kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Great to see the Hoss again. This has been kelli's fav for some time. It's a handful that she felt gave her a rock solid hold at The Erwin Cup. She can't wait to get her hands on it again. Julio has taken good care of it, no doubt. I may have a thing or two that would work as a good backstop for that 454 ball. Thanks for a peek!by Cajun Justice - Gary's Galleries
Jerry, Fine shooting with the new slug. Jim and Gary don't stand a chance now. Those will be interesting slugs to see after they hit some steel. Those things look to be 2in in length. That will carry plenty of energy down range. Have you run it thu any ballistic programs to predict energy at the target? Neil, That's the beauty of shooting with air, even the muzzle loaders stay clean on the inside. Doesn't even require all those patches and lubes. I did pick up some Never Dull, which keeps the outside just as nice. All the barrels, from 25 on up stay clean as long as I keep the teflon tape out of them. Gary, I have been lucky enough to have shared your passion with you over the last half dozen years. It has been a blast to see you continue to transform and improve on the state of the art as well as to see the variety of art mediums you work in. Jerry, It's good to see you and the boys getting some excellent feedback. I've always been very pleased with the service you provide. Gee, I wondering though, if you are getting such great groups with the Raptor in the .46 barrel maybe I'm messing up using these Bishops? I'll see if I can find someone with a steady trigger pull to come down and compare the two in the Rondezvous. Congrats bby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
