Great vids Jerry! Still cool to see that big'ol slug tracking to and thru the target. I think the gel has a lot more life in it before you have to remelt. Those little #5 shot should get right out of the way. Can't wait to see what's next, Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
This is my contrasting lists of two of Gary's guns. Chief Justice + Rondezvous Bolt action + Slide breech Ultraglide hammer + Ultra "guided" hammer Smooth bore +by Cajun Justice - The Picture Gallery
Jerry, I can feel Gary about to burst wanting to tell us about all the internals that aren't "similar". Look at some of the seemingly simple changes even just "front fill" vs "rear fill" , forward vs rearward hammer throw, straight action vs angled, shrouded vs nonshrouded, cylinder vs flask reservoir, and those all seen on the table above. I'm no engineer, funny Gary isn't either, but thoseby Cajun Justice - Gary's Galleries
Roose, my wife agrees about the brass and stainless combo, but she would have to put a hurtin' on you if you come for it. Gary, great find!!! That's a whole bunch of Barnes there. I'm curious, what is the greatest number of Barnes guns assembled in one place? You don't have to reveal anyone's collection, just wondering about the number. I can't imagine you have had more than a couple atby Cajun Justice - Gary's Galleries
Way to go Scott!!!, That's the way to show the other Barnes owners that these guns were made to shoot. And you posted your experience. As with everything else it is almost always more fun to watch your kids having safe responsible fun with a gun, than pulling the trigger yourself. Everywhere the shooting community is worried about how we are going to continue the shooting sports and heby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Jerry, I agree with the new testing proceedures. I'll use an old aluminum pan to get a lead billet of equal thickness. Hey, how about I cant the tray to get a slopeing lead billet so we can test at various thicknesses. I think the best pic will come from the slug just exiting the lead with some "petals" remaining behind at the edges. I'll also develop a different holder for the lead soby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Lon, Your mother would have you check back at the homestead to see if you can play. I checked with my mom and she says you can come over to play anytime. Hope you can make it. Shooting lead into lead eliminates the tedious task of picking up the slug remains from the grass or melting them down into a new billet. How green, hope it makes me eligible for some Obama tax credits. Kenby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Had the chance to take Julio's Yukon II out for some shooting. Had previously gave it a good shine and thought it needed a little exercise to "blow out any carbon build up". It was a nice and sunny day so I got some glam shots as well. Now what to shoot. I liked the lead flower made by the Victory but, the back of a spent 87 slug just wouldn't do. How about a lead casting. Here iby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey, I think I recognize that blank. That should make a fine smokepole, or should I say smokeless pole. If I'm not mistaken, it's destined to be a Yukon, exact details pending. Here's a beauty, hope you can see the depth of this stock when compressed. This one's on loan from Julio. It's a Yukon II 58 GS. 600+ ft/lbs It's one of my daughter Emily's favs. Did some testing which I'llby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I hope after all this discussion you guys take the time to stop and smell the roses. Have you ever seen anything so "green"? A flower made from recycled lead slugs. I think I'll export them to China to help with the hazardous trade deficit. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Emily gets a big kick out of the bigbores. She's been helping me to get some new videos. Hope to post some this week. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nope, not Photoshopped!!! That's the rifling on the ball. The ball rotated as it struck and therefore the rifling is now running from pole to pole if you will. Everything in the post is true. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thought I would post a Video of my eldest daughter putting the CJ thru its paces. Notice the big grin at the end. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm with you Bigbore, looks "shopped" to me. No detail on the split half, no reflection either. It looks like a shadow of a pellet but there are no other shadows thrown except the razor blade on the vice. Zero deformation of the face of the pellet? Say it ain't so... Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I've captured this 32 cal buckshot at maximum penetration. The ball rotates as it strikes the target with the resulting splash forming. You can see the rifling on the ball.! This was shot at 20 yards with Kelli's Victory in pistol format. How's it look. Tomorrow I'll be shooting the 58 Carnivore for pics. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
From the man who has it all figured out. "The shooting is stressful. It takes time to set up the shot and WHAM, it's all over. You may or may not have got a good picture and now there is a mess on your setup, your camera, the garage" That's how we all feel about getting the pics. It doesn't sound like he is using telephoto lens or Plexiglass. Sure bet the mess will be bigger with melonby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
You just need to introduce this antique collector to one of your "Where are they" crowd. They can trade guns whereby the antique will never be shot or seen again and the antique collector will have buried treasure that he can shoot!! I watched this vid again, and again and again. The head moves forward...then back,...forward...then back. Somebody call the Warren Commission I think I have it figured out. Jerry were you shooting the gopher from a "grass knoll"?... Just where were you in '63 ? Rotorhead, it is amazing how the gopher takes a hit, even I'm amazed. Nice post guys, I love the slow mo action. Does anyone have a movie maker that will frame by frame a "regular" video? Got to get me some movement to go with future posts. Jerry, can you give me a quick how to on posting videos from the "Bucket" site? , thanks. Gee, I do hope the State of California has certified the putty as safe. Are you guys pulling out all the slugs to keepby Cajun Justice - Video Library
Shoot for its soft underbelly, the dragon, not the turtle. ( I added that for Kelly) The weather has cleared here and I need to shoot some tomorrow. I'll need to build a friend and get the camera. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gorgeous work Gary!!! I'm sure the future owner will love it. It really shows why Barnes' craftsmanship is truly unique. I hope the lucky owner understands that in order to gain the full rich patina it needs to be exposed to sunlight, rubbed gently with the hand and cheek followed by occasional camera flash. Of course the group will need to monitor the progress of the process to ensureby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The main reason for posting the link was for the additional views of the gun and lock as well as the expression of appreciation for the maker. I would not waste any time on the remainder of the thread as it quickly gets off topic and less than informative. I'll continue my vigil for siteings of Barnes work. Great post, tell us about he others that didn't get away! I just read today about the dropping number of small game hunters and the reader reminded the magazine that marketing plays a big roll in what hunters seek. There has been a drought in the hunting mags about small game. I think sometimes we are guilty of the same. Let's all post some small game hunt stories and pics/videos. Thanks for the great body of work, oh and for the post too!!! It's amazing to me how so many different styles and types of airguns could be from one maker. How am I going to keep a lookout for all those. I think everyone here needs to help out by letting us in on finds or new purchases that my be of interest to the group. Of course, only after you have it in the bag or passed on the item.by Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Sorry for the late response Jerry, I won of course, I was the only one playing the game! I do a lot of shooting alone. I step out to the barn, open a door onto the big bore range and start firing. I do it as a break from other activities or to shoo the neighbors dog away from the skunk who is repeatedly spraying the mongrel. It seems most people just don't get shooting these airgun thingby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Tofazfou, The only reason I brought out the firearm was to have a "standard" which everyone thinks is a heavy hitter. The duct seal is very tough and I fear it gave a false impression of the airguns energy. To tell the true this was the first I had shot it with a firearm, it surprised me too. I had originally bought the duct seal just after Standing Stone IV to use as a silent backby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Questions, Is a rifled shotgun an oxymoron? Why do manufactures put little fins on slugs, does it really help? If so...Gary where are my finned slugs? Is the max diameter of a shotgun slug determined by the tightest potential choke ie full so as not to blow out any barrel, thereby again leaving an ill fitting projectile for the cylinder bore slug gun. Jerry will tell us that very smalby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, Hope you're feeling better. It's a long shot, but the TSA confiscations are variously sold at auction. Some on Ebay some through clearing houses. It may turn up yet. That would be an interesting find. Kentby Cajun Justice - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice video Jerry, don't want to be on the wrong end of any of that action. It makes me think back to the wound tracks of some of the animals taken and how far the coagulation was from the bullet track. Those shot waves transfer lots of energy to the tissue. It seemed that the gel was opening up on the face of the blocks. Did you have any video showing a frontal view, just a thought. Hopeby Cajun Justice - Video Library
Guess what guys....The main armament of the M1A1 and M1A2 is the M256A1 120 mm SMOOTHBORE gun!!! Effective range greater than 3000 yards.
