Hehehe. Got the general idea...adds to the reality of it all! This similarly rough movie taken on a small digital camera by a friend recorded my first big bore kill, a small goat using my 909. Captures the thrill of the hunt!by neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
Thanks guys The Falcon was my first PCP, and will remain with me forever. The twin tube 909 was the first big bore I handled and I was hooked. I have definitely got enouigh big bores for now, without question. Until the next one.....by neilmcp - The Picture Gallery
Yes, there's some real nice work there Gary. Now I think I'm in love with the 45 Scout. Sigh.by neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well, I've not managed to do any shooting whatsover this weekend, due to having an employee's wedding to go to (best one ever too, a real delight) so I thought I'd share my airgun collection...only a handful really.. Jerry, don't forget they'll need a special Southern Hemisphere test regime to ensure their international suitability. My fees will be modestby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yum. I'll be havin' the Black Hills Dakota 45 or the 45 Tundra Magnum, if they turn up, please No point in them lying in a cupboardby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
You have some nice weaponry there, Tofaz! And not bad shooting either Regards Neilby neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
Nice video work Jerry. Interested to know what the wound channel looks like inside, is there more than just a slug-sized track? Cheers Neilby neilmcp - Video Library
Nice looking rifle, Gary. The prospective owner will be drooling if he sees this post! Cruel though, to keep shootin' that poor rat over and over....by neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm with you Jerry. It's nice to visit a friendly place where some feedback or good advice is guaranteed. Like you I have posted on other fora what I thought was helpful advice, but had no response. I have also shared my triumphs on occasions (on a local forum) and had no response whatsoever, leading me to be a little provocative by suggesting I would in future post elsewhere. That led to a majorby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice collection!by neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Wow Jerry, spectacular! Now just turn those fans on under the verandah and blow it all away A snowfall is nice sometimes but the damage done can be a pain... Cheers Neilby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, I imagine you'll be installing air conditioning in the War Wagon next! PS This evening was a nice one, so I wandered around the house and a hare and a bunny became hawk food, courtesy of the Falcon. Soon it will be dark enough for possuming......and I'll get to shoot my big bores for these particularly tough Australian imports.by neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
Thanks guys! Though it doesn't feel much like paradise right now, as the wind howls and the rains falls on this first day of our autumn.... Dory, the bunny gets fed to the native harrier hawks. My wife is a lover of furry creatures and having them cooked up is not within contemplation. My executing of them is done quietly and with discretion, so that no sensitivities are offended. Nice numbers and accuracy Gary. It'll roll some pests alright! Regards Neilby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
With all this bad weather (after a cracker of a summer, so I can't really complain) I was getting impatient for lack of hunting but opportunity knocked and I shot this wee bunny off the back deck last evening. It was an easy shot at 25 yards with the Falcon but a neat and tidy headshot nonetheless. For lack of anything else exciting hunting-wise, here's some other "shots" I've taken over the sby neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
Now there's an idea Jerry! But she'd no doubt suspect something was up, and come home early. Eeeeek!!!by neilmcp - The Gear Shack
Gary, I'm liking the look of those orgasmic curves....ummm, now did I spell that right? Seriously, niiiiiice finish on that stock. I'm greenby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Desperately wanted to, rained Saturday, howling winds Sunday, Grrrrrrrrrrby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hehehehehe, thanks for the suggestions guys If I shoot down the hallway I can probably get 25 yards indoors...and a divorce The problem this weekend is easterly rain. It started Friday and the saying goes "rain from the east, three days at least". Without a covered trailer or suitable shed, and with rain and too much wind, I'm getting an awfully itchy trigger finger! I'll just have to be patienby neilmcp - The Gear Shack
My wife and I were married 25 years on the 11th of February. Our anniversary being so close to Valentines Day, we have never observed it (Valentines Day). So for me it was a normal day but weather and chores got in the way and no shooting I hate it when that happens....by neilmcp - I'm just sayin'
Cheers Kent I think the Falcon should be good out to 150 yards (best kill to date a hare at 139 yards, shot by my son), as it still carries enough energy to kill at that distance, according to Chairgun (around 9 fpe). And of course, Harry (Yrrah) off the Yellow has killed at 183 yards with a .22 of similar power to my Falcon. Conditions would need to be perfect to achieve a kill as far out as 15by neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
Thanks Kent I got Jerry to cast me up some Lee mold slugs, R.E.A.L's in 260 and 320 grain, and Minies in 360 grain. The gun manufacturer also supplied me with some 455 grain slugs, also from a Lee mold. Haven't managed any serioius target shooting yet, still settling on a scope, but so far the 260's appear quite accurate, and while the 455's fly well, they don't group too well. Hope to do a littby neilmcp - The Gear Shack
Thanks! There was a sequel to this kill....a New Zealand airgunner pointed out to me that it was actually a small hare I shot, not a rabbit. The size fooled me. Cheers Neilby neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
Did you manage to find room in the trailer for a sofa to nap on? Looks like you guys had a cold, muddy, icy fun time....by neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Jerry, I'll try that. Regards Neilby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jerry and Gary, some very interesting thoughts, thank you. I think I can safely rule out wind, as it was about the same for all shots. Time between shots was quite short, and I rested the same way for each shot. But maybe I was a bit quick to condemn the scope, as this particular scope, when mounted on a Revo I once owned, helped me shoot the only sub MOA 100 yard group that I am aware of from aby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Cool videos Jerry! You and Gary had some evil lead flying for sureby neilmcp - Video Library
On Saturday, I shot my SamYang 909 in too hot (30+ degrees Celcius), windy and uncomfortable conditions to enable any good 50 yard groups, but noticed a problem which I have observed on a previous occasion shooting this rifle i.e. a significant shift in POI. Here's a link to last time I noticed it: This time, I fired one shot which hit just to the right of the bull, then shot #2 landed 6" higby neilmcp - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
It's easy for me to be flippant Jerry, but I know that feeling when I see a bunny on the front lawn from my kitchen window, I watch it for a while and it stays put, I rush off to the garage to get the Falcon, I sneak around to the back deck with all the grace of a belly dancer, I half crawl along the deck like a performing seal to where I can sight the wee beast.........and.........it's gone Soby neilmcp - The Hunting Camp
