Hi Guys, Get Coffee. It's Sunday evening. I felt decent enough to pull off a weekend of work. Just came in. I've been working on that Victory 32 pistol/carbine. I got permission from the owner, to finish the Nitro in late October. That lets me get this Victory to the guy for a trip of his. And, it lets me finish up for the small trip I'm taking. Jerry's Yukon will be off thby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Worked last night, and today, applying, rubbing, baking in the stock oils. Worked out pretty well. I like it. Wish I had a whole bunch of them, I'd like one myself. ;?) Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Some information that just needs to be covered - wish it didn't. I didn't want to put too much detail into the above announcement. There are, however; a few issues that come up several times a year. It might be helpful to mention them. They are never popular, but they are factual. This is a small, small, small business. It's often thought, because my guns command a price, that I'by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I got an e-mail this morning, from Burke May, notifying me of the passing of Fred Liady. Fred was an avid collector of airguns. He also produced the Roanoke, Airgun Show, in Roanoke, Va.. Some years back, when I first got into building, Fred purchased several guns from me. He had not chosen to stay in touch over the years since, so I had no news of him until this morning. When Fred decidedby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Julio, I'll get my fishing pole and dingy ... Of course, we'll have to do a "cheek fitting", which will require Kelly and I to fly to Peurto Rico for a week .... .... haha. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Starting to oil the Timber Wolf stock. There will now be a brief intermission while I clean off the dirt and filth that glued itself to the stock when it dropped with wet oil that had just started to get really sticky on it ... Fortunately, I'd planned for this event in the time table though ... so I'm alright ... ... hahah. Once it bakes overnight, I can steel wool that coat off.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Jerry, Hey - no pain ... ah .... no reality ... right? You know what a coconut covered donut looks like? Right ... like a Timber Wolf stock that has fallen off it's hook while applying the second coat of oil. Hey - I was getting too much done anyway. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
BTW ... there's no "finish" on there. That's polished natural materials. Weathered Elk stag.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Billet requires edge sanding yet - polishing. Then that's complete. Timber Wolf stocks are going into the oven tonight to bake finishes. Carvings are complete. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Cheek pc. complete. Touch up. Ready to install.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Before someone asks. Same pc. of wood. Close together. Mainly lighting in the pics I guess. Both turned out great. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Took that one - really odd. However; this is the Yukon's buttstock and forestocks. The gun is almost complete. So is the Nitro. That will be a couple of ledger pcs. complete. Gary Won;'t push my luck trying other pics now.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well, it accepted a few pics. Crashed a couple of times when I tried a couple of more. Took forever to load this post for me to comment here. Have no idea what's going on. Another rough spot. Guess it will pass. GAryby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Checking to see if the forum will accept the pics to post ... Here shown while it still needed a couple of more passes. Now complete. Here showing how the stock tapers from the grip backwards. And from the wrist grip to the front off the forestock grip. Close planning. Thin where it can be. The strength of the rifle is in the steel action.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
If you read here Jim ... I can load a pic or two on the template for a new post. Then ... on the next pic, it will stall, and give a white screen notifying of an error. It's not a particular picture, because it's happened with different pictures. Loads a few - then stalls - then crashes. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
To post a bunch of great pics. But the forum is having a hissy fit. Keep getting an "Internal Error" thing Rendezvous related that dumps my attempt and crashes the forum. Done so four times. No more time to fiddle with it. Sorry. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Don, Thank you for commenting. I sincerely appreciate it. Actually, you are about 90% correct. Sounds odd, doesn't it? That's another catch 22. People are intrigued that I can do all of these things. However; the details of "how" I do them sort of comes off as fantasy and cocky. But; I've never been any other way ... so it's normal for me. Thank you Scott. (Nice smilie usage ... hehe) GAryby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Why is that? The finest guns ever made have had their stocks carved for hundreds of years? Curious. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Neil, I'll pick over it a couple of more times tidying up this and that. And then start applying oil sometime after the other side is complete. I need a break from this blasted walnut dust now. I feel like I'm getting a cold. I think I have a mild allergy to walnut. Time for some billet work I believe. We'll see. Hello Julio, Well, I have to have a pc. ready for carving. Therefore; I can't just choose to go do some carving at any time. There are times it seems to flow well. However; with any size project, it takes effort to push through it. As I mentioned, I'm already deep into the project, before I ever get to sit and carve. So; there's a good bit of discipline required to stick to the project.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pics close to the end phase of this long panel. I'll merge this with the other thread later. Wanted you to get the effect of this as it is now. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Joe, A Foredom or Dremel could be used. I just got into rotary air tools long ago. I have several different types I use for different portions of the build. They are very large panels. Of course, it's replicated on the reverse side too., And, the reverse is an origonal drawing - not a stencil or something. Fatigue is a factor. The back has been hurting since the last injections. Who knows why ... always something. But, constantly moving from place to place and hanging over machines has been painful. I've decided to sit and carve for awhile. Nice dirty, dusty work ... if you can get it. ;?) Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
