It's a great space saver for certain applications. A bolt action takes up a lot of space. On something where traditional lines are desired, a long bolt action can be in the wrong place. On a gun like this, you wouldn't want a bolt cycling out in back of the butt stock ... haha. Perfect for certain applications. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Tom, Hey - you were still sitting there at the keyboard? haha. Hope you had a sandwich or something ... Glad you like it. There's a bunch more details that you'll like, I suspect. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I have a few pics to share. I decided to take some items farther then initially planned just to fire the gun. I figured I'd get a bunch of questions caused by unfinished components. Figured I better post something. I've heard of anticipation ... but the forum's heartbeat simply stopped cold there for several days. I was feeling bad - checked in once in awhile for a break from the tediumby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm assembling it now. It just takes that long. This is a more complex rifle than many, and quite a few operations in it's build are specific to this gun. Garyby barnespneumatic - I'm just sayin'
Hi Lon, Actually, that's not hard at all. That's the purpose of a 4 jaw independent chuck. You can adjust the center to be where you want it. Or, you can chuck shapes other than round - i.e., rectangle, square, or many irregular shapes. Thing is, it takes time to change out the chucks. You don't use the 4 jaw independent as much ... so it's not left on the lathe. Means you have to remoby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well - the day started with promise, but my estimation of my recovery (especially in this heat) was premature. I did a few things today. Here's some machining pics. Lathe boring an eccentric billet bi-pod mount. This will clamp around the reservoir. Toward the end, sharp tools and light cuts make for nice fine shavings. Leaves a really fine finish. HI Neil, Take a breath. Sorry. As the day progressed, I've wilted in this heat and recovering from the plague. Some things came up too. Maddening - just need a clear mind and some energy. This cursed endless heat this season has been a real bust. The AC units are about to explode - and are just ineffective. Still throwing myself at it in bursts. Pleased that I should get to shoot this powerful bullpup design today. Feeling much improved today. You can stop sending fruit baskets now. And ... who sent that funeral wreath ... very funny. Anybody gonna peep thru the glass at their rifle today? That'd be a rush. Well - gotta go. Back later. Garyby barnespneumatic - I'm just sayin'

I was just thinking about poor old Neil ... down under ... snuggled up to the fireplace ... with his winder wooly socks on. Probably too cold to shoot there. hahah. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Tom, I know you will appreciate this: Jerry's receiver is running handmade aluminum bronze compression rings. No O rings. These were made from billet stock, and hold the compression of the firing gun. Seals the transfer port and bolt/receiver interface. This bolt is a "fire thru" design ... and the rings have to cycle each loading and lock up. They seem to work a treat. First timeby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Tom, Well buddy, you've made my day. Thank you sincerely. You're an artist with a good compliment. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well Tom, That was the thing. No shooting day in and day out. The gun was sold with the SAME 200 rounds that were shipped with the origonal crate. A shame more than you'd ever dream go that way. Embarrassment that it's laid in a crate after asking me a hundred times if it were ready yet - and having me ship it overnight. Not wanting to answer when I write to ask how it's shooting. Hello Neil, I remain your humble servant. On the way back up today. When last we left our hero, he was working on the stocks. It's very complicated. There are two tubes that run thru it with a bunch of swoopy curves the way the wood wraps around the steel. It will take a particular eye to see how difficult the design is to manufacturer. This is shaping up to be another very special pby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Sean, Not sure why there's such an issue with triggers for bullpups - especially in firearms. For Heaven's sake ... a firearm trigger is only controlling a tiny little slide hammer firing pin. In this gun, I'll be controlling a slide hammer that would break your arm. This trigger will function as cleanly and easily as any other I've designed. Most likely much of the trouble with commeby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Lon, Dial caliper ... square ... scriber. .394" center to center. Take a bulk cut thru the center ... then trim each side carefully to the line. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah - Joebill is camped out in the driveway. haah. He keeps asking ... is it ready yet? haha. Kent ... you are right .... I better fill in those grooves and paint the whole thing pink .... haha. Gary Man - this is wrong. I get within a day or so of firing this thing ... and get sick from some little plague carrier ..... shot in the back I tell ya ... there ought to be a law .....by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Right ... I'm working on a billet lunchbox to clamp on there. haha. Guys ... can you believe that someone has been bringing their sick kid to Kelly's child care ... masking that they had strep ... and right ... you bet ... Work on the scope rail ... barrel clamp lathe boring/reaming the billet for the large barrel clamp Picatinny rail Pretty far along now. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Kent, It will have some teeth. haha Yes - this is one of the bull towers. Mechanisms go inside in voids (yet to me milled in this older pic). Most of the parts, such as barrel, reservoir, hammer tube, valves, levers, etc., are laying about - with their associated "green dots" checked off. Might be an interesting paragraph or three, for some following along. I make up a "build sheeby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Some of the billet work. Takes sharp tools to make nice cuts like these. Not too bad for Barnes made cutters. The Master Bladesmith stuff comes in handy. A bit of heat treating there to do correctly. There's a lot of heavy billet in this gun. It has been enjoyable to work on. It will provide quite a canvas for hard color anodizing. Not too much I wish to show about the design here.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Well, thanks guys. Nice to note that four of you are waiting for guns, and still interested in seeing the new designs. Joe ... there is a Predator rifle in the works, yes. Also - whenever possible, I make the guns ambedexterious. Alex, I'd be honored to look at your drawings if you care to share them. My "cartridge" was not a pressure vessel though. Sorry. So ... you want to start with tea cups? .... No??? OK .. Bullpups. I know there are a number of you that like them. I've had a number of conversations recently, regarding that family of design. Enough so, that I thought I'd disclose that there are a few of them on the books. I know Joebill ... it's just not right that other people like them too. haha.
