AWESOME. Barnes proto-history -- love this. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Happy Gasparilla! Appropriately, here are two Barnes skeletons fighting over a treasure chest on a FL beach. Hope all is well with you all on the "Panhandle" . . . -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
My 16 year old John Deere garden tractor's SEALED hydrostatic transmission quit in the early fall. It runs for about 10 minutes when cold and then gradually slows down -- stalls when going up even a modest hill. A little Googling brought the sad news that a transmission job on this particular unit costs more than the tractor itself originally did (this was a Big Box store garden tractor). So iby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah, nope . . . it will be just fine without the bi-pod. No way I'm chancing anything going south with the stock. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Gary: I've pulled out my Victory 32 stainless pistol and am going to put a bi-pod on it. Looks like you already set a mount point into the stock. It is a flat circular "plate" with a small hex-head screw holding it in. I'm assuming that comes out with an Allen key and then the swivel stud screws into its place? My main question, what size / type of threads should the swivel stud havby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Cool . . . don't think I've seen this one before. Gary, what's the backstory? -- Jimby admin - The Picture Gallery
Gary -- check out what we did TEN YEARS AGO yesterday! I really miss going shooting with you guys out in New Windsor . . . even back then I realized it was special. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hah! Just seeing this. That was a fun day, complete with emotional scars! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Ahhh, the venerable Simmons 4x Turkey scope. As I have said forever, they should give you an endorsement just for mounting that thing on one of your rifles. Man, that's a nice group though! Real good to see guns being made again. Hope you guys are doing great! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hang in there Gary, Kelly, and Fritz! Those big storms are no fun.by admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Cool post. That's a bench gun first and foremost. I own a few related siblings. Awhile back I shot my best group ever with my Barnes Tundra 45 Mag with Gary as a witness (three slugs basically thru the same hole at 75 yards). And of course the Delta 45 is a favorite . . . with that cocking lever you can sit there all day and just feed it lead. Gary, I miss our time on the New Windsorby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Gary: CAT-5e is indeed spec'd to support 100m runs (328') at gigabit speeds if properly terminated. That last part is super important -- sloppy terminations cause errors and will slow you down. I used to make my own cables but have switched over to buying pre-terminated cables (CAT 7 for compatibility with 10G base-T Ethernet equipment) that are at least as long as what the specific run rby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I like this one too, a lot. Well done, Gary. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Indeed, when we shoot for a certain Federal client, they give us specs based on the size of the smallest resolvable detail as measured in microns. Back on topic . . . -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
No joke . . . we have a 100 megapixel back too. At that point the lenses start having a harder time keeping up with all that resolution, especially in the corners, so now the manufacturers are going back and designing new glass to take advantage of all of those pixels. Hope you guys are doing great. I've been busy, but in a good way. Getting to do mostly the stuff I want to do / am intby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Get a cheap tripod . . . keeps you from trying to hold it steady and will yield instantly sharper images. Lenses . . . flat field macro is best for what you're trying to do. Something in the 100mm to 200mm range will help you stay out of your way (i.e., not block the light). Lighting it properly is most of the battle. In the early 1960s, my Dad briefly worked at Pittsburgh's famous Jones & Laughlin steel mills for a few summers, like the two generations of my family before him. He recently told me a story about the enormous coils of rolled steel that, once finished, were stood up on end in a huge warehouse waiting for transport. As each coil was set down on the shop floor, a couple of guys would go around itby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I got a chance to shoot that rifle years ago before the carvings were done . . . way back when. It is a cannon . . . indeed a bit punishing compared to, say, Julio's Yukon II. Gary, less massive of a stock / overall rifle = more energy transferred to the shooter? -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Personally, I would like to see a calendar of nothing but Bisons.by admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, looking back at the pic of that group, any idea how those four little "shrapnel holes" ended up on the face of the plate (right over and around the words "Tundra 45" and above my name)? I still have the plate (of course) and although the orange is almost faded away, it's still in good shape. Those holes do look "punched through" front to back, and not the other way around, just like the sby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Same shot at 100% . . . receiver detail (yes, should've dusted things a little better). This shot was taken with an 80 megapixel Phase One medium format digital back -- what all the cool kids are using now. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks guys . . . things are good, just crazy busy (in a good way). Here's a link to an old post with pics of my group and a few others from that range day. Hey Gary, we did some shootin' that day! Best, -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Was shooting some product photography portfolio stuff last week and I snuck this onto the set. I shot my best group ever with this rifle five years ago. It's still one of my favorites. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Still really nice . . . mostly about the same.by admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Was just looking on the server for some pics of our old dog (Dixie) and found that most of my pictures from that time are of us shooting! I have many hundreds of cool pics. Will post a few more from time to time, with some explanatory text. Hope you guys are doing great down there . . . looks like the storm is staying away from you. Maybe I'll be able to get to the panhandle this winter.by admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
December 2008 . . . just outside of New Windsor, MD. I do miss these Saturday shooting sessions. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Gary -- you forgot to mention the part with the burning, smoking thread on top of an open, bleeding wound. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice one . . . definitely has that "Bison-esque" look to it. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Knives! Love 'em. That bright green one from six months ago or so was beautiful. And anything made of fossilized mammoth bone or engraved with skeletons, dragons, or other beasties gets an extra thumbs up. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
