Hey - what's the problem with this video? Man - we have all sorts of people here that like custom knives. I find it hard to believe that there's not been a peep but for Kent? What's up?: Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The completed pistol grip stocks for the 8mm. How's that finish grab ya? Really smoooooooooth ... I really like this product. I have to get some more colors. I have some other color anodizing in mind too .... hummmmm. Also ... just FYI ... I needed to replace my pocket camera for the last year. I'd damaged the lens of one bashing into a milling handle in the shop. It never wanteby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Jim, I just checked my records. You didn't check the box that said ... "Never make this color laminate again". Gosh ... and it was only a $12 option too. Oh well .... hehehe Gary Got one more rifle complete now ... but can't show it. The customer wants to be surprised when he sees it in person.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Jim .. Hey ... looks like Jerry doesn't want it ... ... no comment ya know .... guess I'll have to sell it .... He's either off casting bullets, or saving the world. Not sure which is most important! haha. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah ... my legs are a mess though. I did another video ... with the soundtrack of "Dude looks like a lady" ... but Kelly insisted I use the video above .... The edge Rockwell is probably around C-60. My guess. These wire damascus blades are not as cosmetically flashy, but they are the best blades I've ever made. Now - wire damascus is not generic either. Glamour Shots later. Here ya go Jerry. I sincerely hope you enjoy it for decades. Don't shoot 'yer eye out! Gary Just need a good total cleaning, and then it's ready to hit the range. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
This blade is handforged from forgewelded tool steel wire. Called "Wire Damascus", it makes a really superior blade. I made the steel, the blade from the steel, and heat treated it. You note the "acid etched overlay" on the blade. All of the blade looked like that - mirror polished. Then, I paint on the design with a resist varnish. The blade is acid washed in ferric cloride which eatsby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I've been working through the list. Yes - there are several new rifles and one rebuild. All being assembled this weekend, etc. Finished the knife today. Finishing the Yukon now. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Lon, His looks very much the same - it is, however; my "Burl" finish on steel. This is a similar look on Brass.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Just a note: You recall I "had" started a tube sight mount. I decided against finishing it now. Too much work to finish it - and the front one ... and then ... it also sort of locks in the gun for that sort of old optics. The tubes of those old scopes are about 15mm. 4 or 6 power. That's not enough for alot of people. It would be an "acquired taste". So; I tabled that idea. I didn't wantby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
New pocket camera does a great job ... that's paper towel "fuzz" all over the receiver.by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Jerry, Did you see yourself in the reflection of your Yukon trigger gaurd? What a pain in the ... back ... all that polishing was. I sincerely trust you will wear white cotton gloves when you place this in your gun cabinet! ;?) Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey ... THAT's why all this stuff is oxidizing!!! Jerry's used my casting station a few times. And found that there's an odd architectural phenom. with my shop complex. The A/C is a big window unit ... a long way from the casting station. On the other side of the shop. And, the garden shed bumps out between it and the corner too. However; for some crazy reason ... the A/C will suck in tby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Jerry, It was sealed last night - around 10:30. I rubbed it out this am. It's finished. Let's see ... I think there's an optical mount of yours somewhere .... hummmm..... Here ya go! Turned out nice. I know you agreed to "pink" ... but I had this black dye to use up .... ... hope you don't mind. ;?) Hi Lon, Yes - thank God. A bit of a worry there. Even went so far as the Fed Ex guy placing the package up tight against an area where it wasn't visible to me when checking. Took quite a few times of looking, before I noticed it. So; I don't know when it arrived, but I used it last night. Worked well ... couple of the items shown on a new post. Hi Don, I developed the technique some years ago. Probably 30 or more. I like it. One of those things I don't get to do alot ... but then ... it pops into my mind that it would be the right thing for a project. GAryby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Don, Thanks for asking. Actually, yes it was. Honestly, sometimes I'd spend a couple of miserible days ... all jumpy and stressed. And, often when going to sleep, or waking, I'd come up with special ideas. Very odd. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Gentlemen, Great to see your comments. I appreciate it. Yes ... if I can read my notes ... I'll be able to sort it out. haha. Now ... pray that anodizing sealer comes in today.... Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Guys, I'm really glad you like it. I wasn't sure if you all would. That's great. I love to use the stuff I developed many years ago with hard won knowledge. Garyby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Hi Jim, A Master Smith can make many, many different patterns within the steel structure. The first level is moving the layers around to form cross-sections that are revealed. Then, you can get into mosaic patterns too. It's endless. What you need though, is young shoulders and a good back. You can't mind a 120 degree work environment ... and billowing yellow smoke out the chimney in yoby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Kent, You know ... I can only say this to friends that know me well ... but that does kill me at this point in my life. I've learned sooo many things that I just almost never use. Or never use anymore. There's simply not enough time and/or energy. So; things such as the knife you liked ... do I have time to do that? ... definitely not. If someone could do that ... would they want to?by barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
