Neil, That rig of yours looks very .... portable. I like the component design. Yeah - what we need is a nice little factory somewhere to make our benches. We're thinking of sending Jerry to China on a scouting mission. Hey ... who do we thank for the additional smilies? Garyby barnespneumatic - The Gear Shack
Was roaming among pics today, and ran across some nice pics of Jerry's rifles from a field day. Maverick 25 Magnum. Shrouded barrel. Woodsman 62 ... he also has a 32 insert which goes into the 62 smoothy barrel. "The Man" shooting the Maverick. I'm sure he has a Prairie 3 pic,.by barnespneumatic - The Picture Gallery
Rob, Having re-read (possibly slower this time), I note that both guns are doing well with the .310" already ... it's just the flier issue. So - I suspect there are undersized rounds sneaking in. I know of nothing to deal with that short of a precision grid of .310" holes, where the smaller ones drop thru. But - they are most likely not uniformly undersized either. Hello Rob, Let me think ..... What Jim is talking about it sizing oversized ball thru a sizing die. The result is a sausage shaped slug that's round each end. I call them "buck slugs". Oddly, they fly very well. You can try a wide variety of sizes if you have the dies and a hand press. I'm pretty sure Jim met the single O buck (at about .350" I think, can be sized for my 8mm barrelby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hello Rob, Welcome. Yeah - everything seems all backwards. If I hear one more story of people with herds of deer around their house, I'll scream. haha Yet, I go out and set up my blind early - let it acclimate for awhile before using it. And, out in the woods ... I see ... a HOUSE CAT! I sometimes travel to meet a bud and hunt down South. And, between us ... we just see a fewby barnespneumatic - The Hunting Camp

Dory, I purchase Mahogany planks from a large saw mill. It's a South American product. There are considerable density differences between planks. The more highly figured, the more dense the wood, and the darker and rich the color. The best quality is very dense indeed. The more straight grain, the more light in weight, and the more plain in color. Mahogany ages really well. It becomby barnespneumatic - Gary's Galleries
Looking thru my pic files, I thought I'd do a post on my latest design. A light weight hunting/target rifle, I call the Rendezvous Class. This one is in my 45/08 caliber. It shoots a series of Barnes custom slugs from approx. 200-400 grains. It has a traditional dropped buttstock. The hammer mechanism is inside the stock there. It uses a slide breech. Easy to load multiple slugby barnespneumatic - Gary's Galleries
Yeah ... well, he didn't tell you the blind was in his yard! haha. That's where all the deer are - in people's yards. Welcome Joe, Good to see ya here. I think you mentioned my great idea ... might have been the hunting gun with no reservoir or bore. Don't need them where I hunt. haha. As I've been told a hundred times ... Hi Neil, Welcome to Rendezvous. Those are fine results with your rifle and scope set-up. The proof is in the targets. Looks great! Garyby barnespneumatic - The Gear Shack
I don't think I'm a terrible hunter. But I seem to be terrible at choosing/finding the correct place to hunt. I've been out this year, on private ground, but have seen only some birds, one doe, and a big black house cat (or was it a Panther ... Jim, We can also run some tests with Shrikes at slightly different diameters. I recall the slug being more accurate at long range. At the Standing Stone 3 shoot off, both guys using the gun were pounding steel groundhogs out at 130+ yards with the Shrikes. Now, there's also a difference between pounding steel and shooting groups. But, there still might be more there. Sometimes a tiny slugby barnespneumatic - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hi Frank, Welcome to Rendezvous. Sorry I was late to the party yesterday. I had another series of epidural injections in my lower back and it knocks me for the day. The War Wagon has been great. It's a 6 by 10 foot floor and 6 and a half feet tall. It has a "man door" in the side which is the key to making it work for us. For some time, a few buds and I have discussed our desire to have a place to share our airgun experiences. "Airgun Rendezvous" is the result. We hope you will feel comfortable here, and share in the discussion. We'd like to see your airgun pics. We'd like to hear your airgun related stories. Show us your targets. In 4-2000, I made completed the 45 Alpine It's an approx. 550 fpe 45 muzzle loader. It has quite alot of detail The stock features deep relief carving. It also has a thumb rail on the right side, and grips very comfortably. It's a nice long range target rifle. The steel receiver was single point engraved. I have a box trailer set up as a nice rolling range platform. I was taking so much time dragging stuff from shop to truck, and setting up, that I hated the set-up and tear down time. I jokingly refer to the trailer set up as the "War Wagon". I rolled out to the range last night about 5:15 pm. Had just enough time to verify a rifle I had just assembled in the rough parts. Here's a rifle I made in 1997. A .177 FTS Ranger. The stock wood was some private stock I had. Actually cut by my grandfather in the 30's-40's. He had a sawmill on the farm then. When I opened a cabinet shop in 1974, I found some of his planks in an old shed on his estate. I stored it for a rainy day. This seemed the time. I take my rifles to the range and proof them before shipping. Of course, it's always a new rifle. Newly mounted scope. Different feel than the last rifle I made/shot ... because that was most likely something totally different. It takes time to set them up. But ... it's rewarding when it comes together. After a sight in and adjustment.... Then, it's time to play for awhile (wby barnespneumatic - The Target Trophy Lodge

Excellent postings Jerry. Thanks. Hey, I wanted to mention. We nearly always have multiple things we are checking when we hit the range. New scope, new slug, new tune on an existing rifle.
