With all the technology we got, I wonder if semiauto bigbore is possible. The semiauto moonsoon has an air blowback action to cycle the magazine and cock the gun(I think). I wonder if someone can do a reverse engineering and apply it to the bigbores, that would be a cool and one awesome gun with tons of fun and great for second or third shot in hunting. Yeah I can relate to you Gary. It happened to me sometimes too, and after a long post, very annoying he..he..by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Tofazfou, I have the same opinion regarding Gary's Bigbores. Sometimes, I think, by stating his works as the best out there, there's a risk of offending others( not intentional), but I've already thought it thru before I stated my opinion, that is just to state what you think and stand behind it if asked. Don't get me wrong, I've always admired and respected all the great bigbore builders, and Iby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, a long sausage blew out from the bobcat? he..he..That sounds pretty deadly from the .87 bore! Tofazfou, I'm doing good Bro! I really admire you for modding your own guns. I wish I knew how......Well, one day I'm going to learn how and mess with it. I think it should be a lot of fun! For readers wants to know the ballistic comparison of the round ball versus the conical, here is thby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Tofazfou, how you doing? You're right, brain shot would have killed anything with the ball. And I know, if the round ball had enough energy it would killed anything that walks. Infact, I like them myself, it's just that they shed energy rapidly downrange. Good to hear from you!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That sounds very lethal, no wonder bigbores are so effective.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good point there Kent! Ofcourse, accuracy is very important, and it should be the number one priority, then power. However, at such close range 75 yards or less, I think around 2 to 3 inch group should be sufficient for biggames.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I believe we should match the bullet to the game we hunt with just like in firearms. For instance, a bigbore hunter has lost a big deer at 75 yards with a lungs shot by using a gun that shoot a .50 round ball with 180 fpe. The ballistic for the round ball is one of the worse, and at 75 yards, the remaining energy is only around 100 fpe. That's hardly enough to ensure a clean kill on a big deer.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That looks incredible! I really the burled finished look of the metal. Very good taste.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Joe, were the deer dropped on the spot? If you don't mind, can you post the pictures of the damage caused by the .58 slug. Thanks!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Very impressive collection Ken, and well said on the discriptions.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Everyone has a good taste, and as a group, pretty much similar in opinion. All the favorites are gorgeous and outstanding guns. look like The most favorites ones are the Dragon/ Chief Justice, Hoss, Alpine, Yukon, Bison, Carnivore, Rendezvous, Ranger and Victoria. I would be proud and extremely happy to own any of these guns from one of the greatest custom bigbore builder in the World! Thinkinby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Picking out the top 3 of Gary's guns are tough, it's like picking out the Miss Universe from the final contestants of a Beauty Pageant, it's that tough! they are all BEAUTIFUL!! he..he...by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
With so many great models and unique designs, only the genius, artistic mind like you can come up with. I have always been respected and admired your great works Gary.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good hunting story Gary. I remembered 25 years ago, I was hunting rabbits in southern California, then suddenly I saw a red dog running out of the brush (I had never seen a wild fox before), it stopped and looked back at me, then I realized it was a red fox, I immediately mounted my 12 guage shotgun and pulled the trigger! click.... nothing, the gun had misfired! that was one lucky fox. Lon, The Hoss pistol is a beautiful piece! I have a soft heart for powerful and gorgeous pcp pistols, and Gary's pistols have been making me drooling for years! sorry to hear about your Ranger.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jim, I like all your guns, they are all gorgeous! The Alpine no doubt is awesome looking, I really like it! I haven't seen any of these guns in person and has never shot one, I based my favorite on only the pictures and performances thru the internet, so certainly, you guys can judge it better than me. Gary, I know you built the guns, and you love them all, but can you tell us which 3 areby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Guys, pick 3 of Gary's greatest guns, and explain your reasons for picking them. I know this is tough, since his guns are all awesome, however, a few of his guns do really stand out. I also know opinions are vary. This is just for fun. let me go first, 1st place: The .87 Dragon. This gun is truly AWESOME in look and perfomance. Like its name, it has the look and power of a Dragon. it's alsby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Lon, I fully agree with you! Gary's works are finely crafted pieces of art. Some of his works such as the 850 fpe, ,87 Dragon and the .62 Grizzly, in my opinion are so awesome in looks and performance wise, they can be named "Bigbore airguns of the century!" Any serious bigbore airgun collector would be incompleted without owning some of of his guns. As for a bigbore addict like me, I've been droby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Guys, I really have a problem. I own 2 custom bigbores, one is a .50, the other is a 20 guage air shotgun, both put out 500 fpe, and I also own 10 other smaller caliber airguns. However, I want more, on my wish list, I want at least 3 of Gary guns, 1 Gargoyle, 1 Jack Haley to round out my collection for custom bigbores. For production guns, the semiautomatic Moonson and the future .25 Marauder wby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good post Joe! I'd love to hunt squirrel someday. Here in Nevada, there are no tree squirrels, I'd have to go to Arizona or California to hunt them. Plenty of jackrabbits here though, and it's open all year round.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The new smilies and the cartoons look pretty cool! I like them.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Very nice pistol Jim, congrats!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good post and good shooting Jerry! look like you can hit anything you want when hunting with that gun. I like to practice shooting in hunting situation myself. I love to use the bipods for long distance hunting or sitting position, I'm suck with standing offhand, and I only use the bench rest to test the gun's accuracy and sightin.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I love those gorgeous pistols and have always been dreaming of owning one. You look cool holding those pistols. Thanks for the pictures!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
