Hi Gary long time out of touch - lots going on here with my family et al. We are grandparents now !! bad news....my kids live in LA... I am retiring and moving to Florida hoping to get in touch about some things Bill Flynn (Joebill)by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
looking very cool - the "Mosaic Mammoth" look is very unique!by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
They could be cool coasters......by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
well, since there is WOOD being discussed, you knew that eventually I would wander by... Spalted wood is REALLY cool, and this looks it started as some nice stuff before it was magically transformed - haha I think spalted wood NEEDS stabilizing, 'cause otherwise it is pretty weak - the end grain stuff is still weak even after stabilization, so that limits its applications some. I'm sureby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Glad you didn't get hit !!! tornados are Scary!by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Merry Xmas and a great 2017 !!! Billby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I LOVE that song....it is just hysterically funny Kurt, you are right - he did sing Convoy as well as some other trucking/CB radio type songs !by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Spalted stuff can come out really cool with stabilizing. There's a way to incorporate dye too- sometimes that can make stuff POP!! The oily woods (cocobolo, rosewoods) don't really like stabilizing that much. Koa LOVES stabilizing - probably my favorite stabilized wood of allby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
WOOD? Did somebody say WOOD? haha I think stabilized wood works real well for knives - it's not exactly "waterproof" but it does resist it well, and doesn't warp much. Makes the wood surface harder too, so you can use spalted stuff and the like. looking forward to seeing what you come up with Gary !!!by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Happy Birthday and best wishes Kellyby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I generally like hidden tang better than full tang, but the bolster work on the full tang knives is Very nice!! I have NO doubts about the toughness of Skeeter tusk/Micarta/G10 etc - they are WAY stronger than pretty much any "natural" material. For myself, though, I just like natural material better, especially WOOD as Gary knows But, the knives I use regularly around the yard, especiaby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Back to the original theme of this thread...... Gary, I got the Kraken coin plus the other 2 (molon labe and BPS) in the mail today!!!! Very Cool thanks againby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Gary What's the difference between Generations 1 and 2 of the Kraken coin? Funny story ( sort of) - My son Will works for Creative Artists Agency (CAA) the largest "Talent" agency in Hollywood. His boss is the guy who reps Daniel Craig, Emily Blunt , Saoirse Ronan (girl from "Brooklyn ") and ........ Liam Neeson, Mr "Release the Kraken" himself - LOL as the kids sayby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
and 2000 years from now, when these are "discovered" by future archaeologists, they will try to discern what secret society developed this coinage.... a lost group of Greek loving, pneumatic pirates!!!!!by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Haha - you mean these coins are not legal tender???? I like the antique patina a lot - I'll take my 2 done that way, thanks what is your Paypal address?by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Way Cool, Gary !! I'll take one of the Molon Labe and one of the pirate ship ones !!! Just let me know when I need to send the $ and how (?paypal - I forget...because I'm old)by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I did see that knife deflector check is in the mail ! Glad you are feeling better to some degree...by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
hope you feel better!by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
not to be a smart aleck, but the Hippocratic oath line would be "First, do no harm" in English I kinda like some Clint Eastwood lines - Make My Day is short and sweet, then there's Well Do Ya, Punk? A Man's Gotta Know His Limitations, Get off my Lawn and a great one from the Outlaw Josey Wales - unfortunately this is neither short nor (potentially) appropriate.... Don't Piss Dowby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
i will release # 5 and take a #7 !by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
geez, what are the odds, huh? I love # 7, but I guess my backup plan is #5by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
joebill #7by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Hmmm, so you bake these in an oven..... geez, if you were a cool kid, you would have used your iPhone for the time reference.... haha enjoy Thanksgiving - I'm planning on checking back at 4:30 Eastern to pick my bracelet....errr.....cuff....knife deflector - yeah, that's the ticket !by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Happy Thanksgiving to all Glad we live in a country where we have so much to be thankful for !by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Hey Gary thanks for the info ! I have one more idea of dubious value .....since we are talking about Bronze age Greek warriors.....how about a Bronze cuff ?by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary I think these look great and I'd be interested in one - I know my son would love one too One question - I LOVE the look of copper, but I suspect that copper worn on the wrist would rapidly patina (OK) but possibly also patina one's wrist...unless the copper was lacquered or something.....which would then inhibit BOTH types of patinas - or am I wrong about that? guessing Aluminumby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
So, since the damascus on the blade is feather pattern, that makes the sword a "feather Falcata" - more or less, anyway Think you are right - lots of possible "canvases" for this image ... I'd say "tie clip" but as far as I can tell, no one actually wears those anymore I'm not really a jewelry guy, and much too "manly" for a "bracelet".... but maybe a "wrist support"......by joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
You bet ! Believe it or not, I was actually a Classics major in college, and obviously pre-med as well. Don't have much artistic talent though Battle of Thermopylae - "the hot gates" - or Gates of Fireby joebill - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
